Horror (and general) film icon Sir Christopher Lee -- who played in everything from the Hammer horror films to The Wicker Man, from The Lord of the Rings/Hobbit trilogies to the Star Wars prequels, from The Man with the Golden Gun to The Stupids -- has died at the age of 93.

He (along with Peter Cushing) was considered for the role of Dr. Loomis, but both Hammer icons turned it down. The role went to Donald Pleasence.

There will never be another. A class act and, it seems, a true gentleman.

Yes, very sad, indeed.  A great man, a classic actor, and an unparalleled voice has left the stage for good.  he will be missed for sure.

And now, my pisser of years back, Wolves at the Door, will never be able to be a reality.  ARGH!!!!

RIP, Mr. Lee...you were truly a class act for so many years.

He will indeed be missed. Married to the same woman for almost thirty years before she died, and lived to a ripe old age, so that's an achievement in itself. And, at least we have all his films to look back on. RIP, Mr Lee.

A true legend of the screen.

His portrayal of Dracula will always be how I see Dracula.

Not to mention the many diverse roles he played, he's a scene stealer in a good way. His stage presence was second to none.

Lord Summerisle is my personal fav, as I love the Wicker Man.

I can also enjoy his roles in ridiculous movies such as Howling II etc,

I was beginning to believe he was as indestructible as his Dracula character, but alas, the final act of the famous horror legends has fallen.

R.I.P. Christopher Lee

People are too quick to bandy the word Legend around, but with this sad news we are genuinely losing one.

RIP Christopher Lee

Yes, a true legend of the screen. A shame that he is now gone.

Tis a shame. He was still working too. Fine actor, with a memorably sonorous voice.

The man most famous for playing the undead has died.

RIP

This news hit me very hard when I found out.  Lee was, awe inspiring.  One of a kind.  There will never be another actor with the raw determination to bring vigorous life to a character ever again.

Without doubt one of the finest actors in cinema history and it's a shame that he's no longer here.

If ever the term "legend" suited an individual, it damn sure suited Christoper Lee.  R.I.P.

Only watched the original Wicker Man in the past few years. They don't make 'em like that these days.

Mind you, the naked dancing scenes are the ones I rememeber most

Yeah, I am very sad by this.  He worked up until he died.  For all he accomplished in his life, he never stopped working.  He stayed married to the same woman till she died.

And he was making HEAVY METAL CD's late in life.  He was a true legendary pioneer.  We lost a special one.

I wish I had a chance to meet the man.  His work on vampire flicks are (IMO) nearly as important as Legosi's work.
