Just as Bill posted on another thread that he would like to have pint with me(something I would greatly appreciate), i was just wondering :
Who actually has got together? I know Jeff met Shaun. I believe Pia and Dena met... maybe wrong. Janet and Phil act like they don't... but all couples do that I think Stevie met Coop in Australia or maybe it was Alex.
I know we are scattered all over the world, which is why I love this site and quite a few are linked on Facebook... just wondering
By the way, if Steve Clark drives past me one more freaking time, I'm throwing a spike strip out
I guess the SS people I'd like to meet with all live too far away, so nobody yet. I guess I'll have to wait until I'm a hollywood star, but I'll send out invites then, I promise
Alas I've not met any. I know that Kevin, who used to hang round here, caught up with Janet and Phil.
A few used Skype, particularly on the OWC weeks, but I was always tucked up when this went on.
Changing direction for a second, I went to London for a couple screenplay writing courses a few years go. I was a tad more serious about it in those days.
Anyway, it was great catching up with those also seeking to write, some thing I haven't been able to do where I live. However, what was interesting is that there were only a few real screenplay writers attending these things. Most were directors, or disgruntled actors seeking to broaden their range. At first I felt quite intimated thinking that anybody would went to drama school, or directs films, will know more than me. Yet, it quick;y became clear how poorly they grasped story, and character
A director on one course had just completed a £3m 3D filming of an opera, that actually went round the cinemas. Yet when we spoke about story ideas, or what he would do next in a scenario etc I was quite shocked to see how clumsy the proposals were. It made me realise that we can all do it, whether we have training or not. And for free, you get a seriously good education around here.
So we may not meet up, but it's nice to hang out with you lot.

You rounded that up like an old children's TV programme. When they reflect at the end and give a heartfelt message. You seem like a nice guy!
I too have met and contacted many directors or wannabe directors. And, yeah, it's always stuck out to me their inability to construct a story or create believable characters. It's actually quite alarming.

Quite honestly, now that I've a few witnesses, this has always been the very thing I've feared most about one Mark Moore. And the spike strip is just the beginning, as I've always pictured a Misery type scenario that includes hobbling, and God knows what other devilry, until he gets me to rewrite The Followers.

Will (albinopenguin) was my roommate in college and one of my best friends to this day. Naturally, I was the one who suggested he join SS (I'm not sorry).
Other than that, shared a more, shall we say, immediate sort of discourse with a few peeps over Skype, but other than that, I haven't met any members in the traditional sense. I do inhabit adjacent stomping grounds to Don's, though, if I'm not mistaken.
Sticking with in person (vs. multiple Skypes)... Brett (Electric Dreamer), Kev, Phil and I have met... not all at once, mind you. And if you want to throw in STS writers - who aren't as involved with the discussion boards per-se, there's also Deb Johnson, and Pete Barry. )
And I wouldn't be surprised if Tim and Johnny happen... eventually! Oh, and Pia and Dena, of course!

I guess the trick here is, writers wonder why directors/producers need writers and can't write their stuff on their own, while producers/directors wonder why writers need producers/directors and can't shoot their stuff alone.

Tell him to post more often. House of Whorrors was a fun read.
