Error establishing a database connection on SS (currently 610 views)

I always navigate to the forums via the main website to see what the latest news is first. Occasionally of late I get a blank screen and an 'Error establishing a database connection' message instead of the home page, which seems to fix itself after a few hours. It's been like that all day today so I had to go to these forums direct.

There is a problem. Normally during the week, I just restart the webserver. I'm not sure the cause so today I'm having the folks from home I rent the server from take a look at it to see what is going on. I hope to have it back up and running soon.
