I got an email from Dropbox about upcoming changes. Thought I'd share that here since so many scripts here at SS are linked to the writer's dropbox accounts rather than hosted by the SS server. If you have scripts listed here linked to dropbox, this email is for you too.

"We’re always looking to improve the Dropbox sharing experience. The Public folder was the first sharing method we introduced, and since then, we’ve built even better ways for you to share securely and work together with your team.

As a result, we’ll soon be ending support for the Public folder. Dropbox Pro users will be able to use the Public folder until
September 1, 2017. After that date the files in your Public folder will become private, and links to these files will be deactivated. Your files will remain safe in Dropbox.

If you’d like to keep sharing files in your Public folder, you can create new shared links. Just make sure to send the new URLs to your collaborators.

In addition to shared links, we have a number of sharing options designed to make collaboration easier and give you more control. To learn more, visit our Help Center. "

I love these type of emails... it's great they are improving my Dropbox functionality by removing a feature I like, use and value!!!

I pay monthly for Dropbox, but wont be after Xmas when I move to a different service!

I share my scripts here through Dropbox, with links to the individual scripts. Will this affect me, or does this change just affect people sharing entire folders?

I would love feedback on any of these!

Good question. I don't know. I will contact them today and ask for clarity on that part. If our script links will become defunct, that would probably mean thousands of scripts here with useless links.

I'll be back later with more info, unless someone else knows the answers.

This is what's posted at Dropbox. So, if I understand it correctly, we can still share file links. But...if you have links to your scripts that are in a public folder, then those links will be gone. So, I guess it's a good idea to go over ALL your scripts here at SS and make sure they are linked to your script file and not in that public folder.

"Dropbox accounts created after October 4, 2012, will not have a Public folder. Don't worry. You can quickly share anything with friends and colleagueseven if they dont have Dropboxby using a shared link.

Dropbox Basic (free) users: Beginning March 15, 2017, the Public folder will be converted into a standard Dropbox folder thats private to your account. This transition will occur automatically. After the transition, when someone visits an existing Public folder link, theyll see an error page. If you want to share any Public folder content again, youll need to use any of our other sharing methods. Learn more.

As of October 3, 2016, you can no longer use shared links to render HTML content in a web browser. If you created a website that directly displays HTML content from your Dropbox, it will no longer render in the browser. The HTML content itself will still remain in your Dropbox and can be shared. Learn more.

Dropbox Pro and Business users: Beginning September 1, 2017, you can no longer render HTML content and the Public folder and its sharing functionality will be disabled."

My file links are all in my Public folder, so that's me cancelling my Dropbox paid subscription!
