Just had this through on email...

Hi Anthony,

As we have grown and evolved over the last several years, we are making changes to our website and closing our open call for script and concept submissions. As of April 13, 2018, we are no longer accepting submissions. Submissions received will continue to be reviewed and evaluated by Amazon Studios and will be available on our website until June 30, 2018. Thank you all for your contributions.

Amazon Studios Team

With a little legwork, you can get to Ted Hope, Head of Production for Amazon. If your pitch is intriguing enough, his assistant might respond...

That was sudden. There isn’t nearly enough information there to glean a reason, though the zero-notice nature of it leads me to believe Amazon detected some kind of legal vulnerability/liability with the process that couldn’t be fixed with a tweak to the Terms of Service.

Maybe they’ll improve the open call system. Wouldn’t mind seeing Amazonbot joining Googlebot and Yahoobot in crawling the SS site. (As an aside, haven’t seen Yahoobot online lately. Hope he’s just on vacation and not laid off...)

Feature-length scripts:
Who Wants to Be a Princess? (Family)
Glass House (Horror anthology)

TV pilots:
"Kord" (Fantasy)
"Mal Suerte" (Superhero)

Additional scripts are listed here.

Personal opinion is that open call system was just too much effort for them to wade through all the submissions and using agents and existing relationships means a lot less reading for them... imho of course.

I don't think they took this too seriously, so, no big loss. Just got people's hopes up when they saw that their status had changed to considering or what else it used to say.

I tried twice with them, once back in their early days when you got a reply in about 30 days and the script was under a free option during that period, and then again earlier this year when it was a 90 day response and no option. I got rejected with no explanation on both occasions.

That in itself means nothing but I don't seem to recall any mention of a TV show or film getting made off the back of this concept. That's a whole load of nothing for years of script submissions and the price of reviewing them.

It is worth noting, the second time I submitted (both submissions were a TV show concept) there was no option to upload additional materials like TV Bible, proof of concept film, artwork etc. All of which I had, which was frustrating. The first time they wanted all of that stuff. When I emailed them about it, they said they were only reviewing scripts now, so I think they've been winding down for a while and just decided to call it a day.
