Back in the day, we used to do a Script Club where we would decide on a "pro" script to read and analyze. I liked it, but I try to read a lot of scripts anyway, so why not?

I really didn't do anything creative last year. It was a good year in every other way, just not much creative stuff going on. This year I want to get back into the swing of things and this weekend I made it a point to do a bit of watching, reading, writing and such. I started reading a Blacklist script and ended up reading the whole damn thing. It was an easy fast read and it kept me turning the pages even though I hated the protag and got VERY annoyed at certain things. It did make me wonder though if there would be any interest in doing another SC.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Sounds like a great idea, Pia. I'm out unfortunately, but will drop in now and then.

I've been reading Blacklists, Blood, Award Nominateds etc.

Procrastinating big-time. Time for me to actually start doing.

Cool! One person onboard and one positive to the idea even if not participating.

The idea is kind of like trying to figure why some scripts get interest from the big studios and others don't. I feel we now have a lot of writers here that are good enough writers, but are still not able to crack that next level. This is what the SC would be about. Reading and discussing, dissecting, analyzing what made these scripts grab the attention of agents and studios and why ours have not.

Is this club open to newbies and is there a weird initiation dance that I have to do first?
Cause I can't dance.

Sounds like something I would be interested in.

The word club sort of makes it seem that you have to be a member or something, but no, anyone who wants to learn something and improve their craft can join in.

So, as I’m a newb to how this works, do we start the discussion on this thread? We put our heads together and agree on a script?

No. I'm just putting out feelers for now. If there's enough interest, I will start a new thread on the Screenwriting Class board.

I have a script that I would very much like to discuss. It was on the 2019 Blacklist. I hated the protag, but it still kept me turning the pages, so that's the one I would pick unless you guys have any other suggestions.

Was it “The Process”? If not, that’s probably the best BL script I’ve read lately and one I’d recommend since it takes place in just 2-3 rooms.
