Anyone on the boards try out Quibi yet? For those unfamiliar, it’s a new streaming service featuring shows where episodes are around 10 minutes each. Bite-sized content to watch on-the-go. The idea doesn’t really appeal to me all that much, but after seeing a few series trailers, I’m intrigued. I also think there’s a lot we can learn from this platform as screenwriters.

One Quibi series that caught my eye is When The Streetlights Go On. I had read this script when it was written as a feature film on the Black List several years ago. Another series, The Stranger, looks like it was probably also written as an economical feature before becoming Quibified.

I think the idea of converting your feature into a Quibi series is an interesting learning technique as a writer. If you had to break up your script into 10 page segments, would it be exciting enough to hold an audience’s interest until the next episode comes out? Something to think about to help keep your script from sagging at any point.

Anyway, anyone who’s taken the plunge, let me know if it’s worth entering my credit card information for to use a trial I’ll inevitably forget to cancel before being charged for.
