I'm announcing this a few hours early because I have a bit of a conflict later.

According to Mayan prophecies the world is about to end on December 21st at midnight.  Therefore it makes a lot of sense to get in one more screenwriting challenge before that happens.  Right?


Here's the criteria.

Genre: Open

Theme: Your script must contain a prophecy.

• The prophecy must not be the Mayan prophecy or related to the Mayan prophecy.
  
• The prophecy can be as large or as small or as real or as fictional as you want.
  
• The prophecy doesn't have to be the main story line but your story should not be able to exist without the prophecy.
  

Pages: 6 - 12

Budget: Open (but remember most filmmakers that frequent this site like low to no budget scripts).

Due: December 21st midnight - Eastern US time.


Now go write a screenplay, write it as if it were the last screenplay you'll ever pen.  Leave your legacy to the post-apocalyptic world.

I recall hearing about a prophecy when I was in Arizona in 1997.

It mentioned references to a  'Bush that would rise in December 2012, then fall down in a drunken stupor.' And there was mention of ' Dreamscales let loose in the bathing areas of Rams'...

Hmmm, might be able to work these into my script....

After all that CT gloom and tragedy, I took a holiday themed task on to distract me.
So, I'm rewriting a feature this weekend that producers expect to see Mondayish.

And on top of that, the new car smell new draft of Clone Wife made Scriptshadow!
So, my brainpan will be rattling around like a pachinko ball all week!

I'm just gonna keep my head in the game.
Keep making pages until I write THE END.
And try to keep my head from exploding and not think too much about stuff!

Funny thing is I only came up with the idea because of this OWC, but now that I think about it, some might say it's not quite prophecy. Oh well. To my thinking it is.

A prophecy is just a prediction of the future - nothing more.

I'm sorry I'm not in this. I haven't turned down an OWC, official or unofficial, since I joined this site. I just have three scripts going at once, plus Christmas and parties etc, and didn't want to promise a script then not attend.

My ill fated UOWC started at the base of a giant pyramid.  The next scene was near a giant igloo.  From there, we went to a giant fairy glen, followed by a giant cave.  Guest appearances by Yul Brynner, Christopher Lee, and a few others (yeah, I know, Yul's been dead for ages).

They can bring Yul back with the right budget. The La Mancha Prophecy.

I only needed Yul's giant face, hovering over the pyramid, delivering a prophecy to a jean short short wearing Stevie.

Pia was at the igloo.

Dena was in the fairy glen.

And, Shawn was in the cave.

If anyone is interested in shooting this epic, please contact me and we'll make it a reality.

Maybe there is a plot to blow up the Sphinx.

I got devastating news today...my flight into Green Bay, WI got canceled due to the bigass dump in the Midwest.  Couldn't reroute or make the trip, so this kid is stuck in AZ, but I do have multiple options for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day...just not like being with family.

I didn't write one.  Sorry...you would have loved the pisser I was working on.
