Soooo.... not sure I belong in this thread, as I've never read a SK novel, and have only seen a handful of SK movies/TV (not all of which I liked - I'm looking at you Lisey's Story - never heard the word Bool before, and now I hate it).

But, the question is... do you have to like SK to like this book? It sounds really interesting, so I'm inclined to give it a go.

You don't have to care one whit about SK.  Or even JFK.  It's a great book.

Finished this on the massive drive to Uluru.

An absolute masterpiece. I loved it and it's now in my top 3.

That's all I've got.

Definitely check this out, Paul. You will love it.

So, checked the book out from the library... got too busy to read it. Had to return it because other people put holds on the book.

My wife discovers the TV series. Now she wants to know... should she watch the TV series by herself while I read the book, or do we watch the show together, before I read the book?

What do you think? Read the book first (but not for a couple weeks), or watch the series?

200 pages in.

Digging it so far.

NOT what I expected. Though, part of that is, I think, I've been so focused on screenwriting. I haven't read a fiction novel in forever. So, Dallas by way of Derry takes a little getting used to. (If that makes sense.)

Totally makes sense. While it's not a prerequisite, I would say that reading "It" and having the whole backstory of the town and charaters is the only way to fully appreciate being in Derry. But "It" is full blown horror while "11.22.63" is classified as sci-fi/alternate history so people who enjoy "11.22.63" may hate horror and would never go near a book like "It".

Okay... that helps a lot. I keep feeling like King is distracted by another story. (The pipe. The killings. The clown.) Now I get it. Just that bit of information is going to help me relax with the read.

I can see how it would feel that way, but as a King reader Derry is a great place to be

...and.... done. Whew. What a ride.

A masterclass in "put your main character through the ringer."

I just loved the ending.

The book was definitely not what I was expecting, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for the recommend.

Thanks for the recommendation (from the Holly thread). Just finished listening to 11-22-63 this week and it's in my top three for King, for sure. Like Fairy Tale, I just didn't want it to end. Bravo, Mr. King, fantastic!
