Saw on Amazon.com

So, whether or not you liked Saw will probably have an affect on whether or not you like the music. I can honestly say that, having enjoyed the movie immensely (it was a grand little mean spirited horror movie, something sadly in short supply these days) that, even thought flawwed, presented some interesting ideas and whatnot. The soundtrack is much the same. While flawwed, there is some really good stuff on here.

The disc is about fifty fifty. Half are name tracks from bands like Fear Factory or Enemy, while the rest is Charlie Clouser's surprisingly good score. Was I the only one who thought the music in the final scene kicked all sorts of ass? Probably. On one side of the coin it's a decent little sampler of the nu metal stuff out there. For me it's driving fighting music. It serves two purposes: playing loudly while driving, or playing loudly while playing a violent video game. Well, these ones do that just fine.

The Charlie Clouser stuff on here is the reason to get this CD. It's dark, it's creepy, it's amospheric. Turn off the lights and crank it up, forget about the movie, and let your sick, twisted mind take over. Suffice to say, if I were to write down what came to mind... well, you would cry. And I would laugh. All into the night. Your pain sustains me. But that's another story.

2. Hello, Adam - Charlie Clouser
