It's very sad indeed, but that's how it always is. |

For me I will have to pick them from different times.
Today, I find Heather Thompson from the rock band Tapping The Vein to be a very strong vocal musician. Her voice is like nothing I have ever heard recorded before and makes you wish they recorded more than one album.
From earlier eras I would go with Hank Williams (Original) just simply because he is/was a great songwriter and the voice that inspired a generation. Without him we would have never Got Hank Jr and Hank III.
Even Johnny Cash has covered some Hank Williams.
I am not a big fan of Nirvana but the live MTV Unplugged CD is one of my top favored CD's just because they were phenomenal live.

Nope, can't say he did, but i'll ask him. I'd listen to anything with a harp in it! Eddie Hazel is another favourite, he's in my top ten just because of one song. Maggot Brain, the rawest, emotionally attached guitar playing and its all improvised. He was told to "play like your momma just died". Moving stuff. |

I can listen to one or two Placebo songs, but any more and that singer's voice starts to get on my nerve. I love Radiohead though! Also, there film clips are so strange and awesome. I remember seeing one of a guy lying on the ground. People asked him why he was lying on the ground and when he gave them an explanation they all just layed on the ground with him.
Anyone like Klaatu? some of their music is chilling because they sound so much like the Beatles. Their from Canada i think and there was a lot of talk about them. They didn't show themselves to the public for a while so people thought it was actually the Beatles getting back together.
P.S. Cindy, have u heard "We Love You" by Rolling Stones, wow, as psychadelic as they come. |

I like the entire band of Modest mouse. They play emotional music that I like. |

I can't believe no one has mention Jerry Garcia yet. Also on my list for top musicians would be John Fogardy and Thom Yorke (Radiohead's singer).
