I think your band can beat up my band...

You could certainly have a big night out on the town with them.

Well, I can always switch Eddie and Pete around.  Eddie plays the keyboards just as good.  But according to your rules, I couldn't throw in Andy Sumners of the police because as you know, I have sting as my vocals.  To be honest, everyone you listed is great but I'm just a bigger fan of EDDIE.

Heck, I wanted to use all of "Rush"

Ghostwriter

And I wanted to use half Queen, half Dream Theater!

I get the feeling that EVH is a better piano player than he is a guitarist, his axe rep notwithstanding...

The reason I asked you that is because I think he's fine for what he does, however most of the musicians I know tell me that he's a hack - with no musical talent of my own I can't tell if it's because they know something technical or if they're just jealous...

Wow this is going to be fun! I live for fun and love to mix business with pleasure because I have such an intense personality and need to or things get pretty bad.

OK, this is very hard to do, but I'll do more than one of these. The current choices I've made are not solely based upon talent, but based upon the essence that I feel from the person and if they move me or not.

My choice for vocalist in this particular set is Sarah Brightman because I think she's absolutely gorgeous and has a beautiful spirit. Her voice is equally beautiful and I'd love to see her perform with the gentlemen that I've named as a part Beatles, part Led Zeppilin mix and Elton John on piano because some of his music just really resonates with me emotionally. DANIEL, is one of those songs.

I think any artist that can really stir one's emotions is truly-truly a wonderful person to behold. And there are so many of course, but I had to choose in this first set, so that's what I've come up with and why.

I'll do another set though later. Also too, I was mainly focusing on modern pop/rock culture, although Sarah Brightman doesn't fit into that category, but if you need a woman, I think she's a perfect representation.

In the video I'll post below. Listen to the words at the end. Rather fascinating.

vocals: Sarah Brightman
guitar: Jimmy Page and John Lennon
bass: George Harrison
piano/keyboards: Elton John
drums: John Bonham

I've noticed there are a lot of "J's" in that selection. I wonder why.

Alright I had to search, as is always the way.

Daniel, when I first saw you
I knew that you had a flame in your heart
And under under our blue skies
Marble movie skies
I found a home in your eyes
We'll never be apart

And when the fires came
The smell of cinders and rain
Perfumed almost everything
We laughed and laughed and laughed
And in the golden blue
Crying took me to the darkest place
And you have set fire to my heart

When I run in the dark
Daniel
To a place that's worst
Under a sheet of rain in my heart
Daniel
I dream of home

But in a goodbye bed
With my arms around your neck
Into our love the tears crept
Just catch in the eye of the storm
And as my heart ran round
My dreams pulled me from the ground
Forever to search for the flame
For home again
For home again

When I run in the dark
Daniel
To a place that's worst
Under a sheet of rain in my heart
Daniel
I dream of home

When I run in the dark
Daniel
To a place that's worst
Under a sheet of rain in my heart
Daniel
I dream of home

Hi Sandra. Acouple of things: those lyrics must be from another 'Daniel' song - they aren't Elton's.

George on bass?  Do you mean Macca?  George did play bass on some Beatle songs though.

Top band by the way.

Ok, my supergroup, without any Beatle:

Vocals - Robert Plant
Bass - John Entwhistle
Guitars - Keef and Jimi
Drums - Moonie

Stevie - that is indeed a supergroup, and one that follows the rules!

That would some crash, bang classic rock, no doubt...

Yes, they are not Elton John's song.

Yes, I wanted to post Elton John's lyrics together with those and then I got caught up and never finished the post.

Anyways, the lyrics to Elton John and Bernie Taupin's Daniel always made me wonder and feel moved at the same time and I only just now researched them and I found the following, but I'm not sure if it's correct or not:

Although the lyrics suggest the song is about the singer's younger brother flying off to Spain (Europe), they are actually about a real life U.S. marine called Daniel, who was injured by a landmine in Vietnam. He was left wheelchair bound and blind. The military of the day used him for PR purposes, "A BRAVE AMERICAN, WHO GAVE FOR HIS COUNTRY", sort of thing. Television pictures showed Daniel receiving a medal in Washington, waving goodbye before boarding an aeroplane bouned for Spain (Texas).

Daniel is traveling tonight on a plane
I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain
Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye
God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes

They say Spain is pretty though I've never been
Well Daniel says it's the best place that he's ever seen
Oh and he should know, he's been there enough
Lord I miss Daniel, oh I miss him so much

Oh, Daniel my brother you are older than me
Do you still feel the pain of the scars that won't heal
Your eyes have died but you see more than I
Daniel you're a star in the face of the sky

Daniel is traveling tonight on a plane
I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain
Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye
God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes
Oh God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes

Elton John and Bernie Taupin

OK, so here's the other Daniel song I had posted the lyrics to above.

It's written by Natasha Khan and performed by Bat for Lashes

Shelton,

You're automatically my favorite poster on the board now by picking Freddie...

Good choices with Peart and Scholz as well (wonder how many people know who Tom Scholz is?)...

And you'd be surprised how many people pick Claypool in this game - he runs a close second behind Entwistle and miles ahead of Glover...

George...

You do know that I will be crawling to you in the future, begging for you to "amp up" to a professional level, all of the songs that I've written?

Seriously, I would never do that-- meaning, I would never force a person out of their reality and world in order to satisfy my foolish cravings.

What I will say though, is that:

I must figure out how I can incorporate other people's talents with my own and the integration will be a splendid thing to behold.

Really, I do have so many "rough cuts" of songs that I have written, but I don't have the skill to produce them.

They all sit on old tapes tossed together in boxes.

It's fun though because I've always had the opportunity to grow and expand in a kind of way that is always "stretching".

For that,

I feel blessed.

Sorry my dear friends if I'm getting sickly "honey sweet", but you guys really do it to me.

Sandra
