Okay, this was another game we used to like to play around the "classic rock campfire"...

Pick a band, and name the song (or songs) you feel are overrated (or overplayed), underrated, and your favorite(s).

Something like this:

Lynyrd Skynyrd

Overrated/played: Gimme Three Steps
Underrated: The Ballad of Curtis Loew
Favorite: Tuesday's Gone

I'm afraid to do The Who because I feel Baltis circling me like a turkey vulture...

Scared of Baltis? Ya big wimp.

Queen

Overrated/played: Bohemian Rhapsody
Underrated: Save Me
Favorite: Innuendo

Er, note I didn't do The Who either...

Ah, you've done my favorite band, so I'll have a go as well (I'm starting to type "British" after hanging out here a while - anyone else notice that?)

QUEEN:

Overrated: Another One Bites the Dust
Underrated: everything else! Okay, okay - Don't Stop Me Now
Favorite: It's Late

Rob,

What I do with my trouser tackle is no-one's business apart from social services and, occasionally, the police.

And my dear, there's nothing wrong with playing with the gay. I draw the line at 'hide the Fulsom Frankenfurter'. That hurts.

Keep hanging loose dude,

What, you need directions to the leather pants and baby oil store?

Rob's Weezer picks are exactly like mine, with the exception of switching My Name is Jonas for Say It Ain't So.

I don't even own a Guitar Hero dude -- I really dislike "arcade" style games -- they feel more like mini games than complete works to me, so I avoid stuff like Guitar Hero and rail shooters.

I had my first exposure to Tool when I was twelve. LOL. Your comment was mildly insulting, actually.

I'm aware Parabola is included in one of the Guitar Hero games, though.

Agree with Supermassive Black Hole, definitely not one of their best (and way overplayed now) I would say underrated Muse songs are Starlight and Map Of The Problematique, fave is Hysteria (though Knights of Cydonia is near the top of my list)

Overrated:  Ignorance
Underrated: We Are Broken
Favorite: Emergency

going back to the 80's (not quite clasic rock, but those are all taken)

Depeche Mode:

Overrated:   Just Can't Get Enough
Underrated:  It's No Good
Favorite:  Enjoy The Silence

and my all-time favorite band, The Smashing Pumpkins:

Overrated:    1979, Zero
Underrated:   Stand Inside Your Love, anything from Adore
Favorite:  Rocket, Apples & Oranjes

And James, was it you who stole all my vinyl in 1997? You thievin' little touristy Cambodian?

And, although I know there are a few hardcore DK fans like myself out there, only a non UK fella would think "Too Piddled To Diddle" is underrated. Ahem.

"Too Piddled To Diddle!" That's pretty rad.

Yeah, doesn't get too much recognition here. It's either "I Fought The Law," "Holiday In Cambodia," or "California Uber-Allies." All great but just the same.

Even more underrated is the In God We Trust Inc. EP but "Too Drunk/Too Piddled..." is better than all those songs. Strangely enough, I've only gotten into punk (more than casually, anyway) over the past two years or so but DK and Bad Brains, I got into right away. Top of the class, those two.

Not a massive fan of BB but I see what you're saying. I wasn't a huge punk fan back then but, DKs were more punk than half the others put together. "Fresh Fruit" was, and still is, a hell of an album.

Er, "Too Tipsy To Dip She?". No?
"Too Flagged To Shag" Really, no?
"Too Pished To Kiss (the Dish)". Oh, come on. That's inspired! You're lucky I didn't mention fish. Oh, did I? Oh dear.

"Too Inebriated to Deviate (to the dark side Luke)". Now, stop it!

Over, Under and Fav

OVER: Britney, Robbie,
West -(Feck! Bejeesus. Good job we Irish have other edges)- Life,
Boy -(I know one died but neverless, they will milk it unashamedly)- Zone"
And a tall stack of others...

UNDER: The Dead Kennedys
FAV: Faith No (God bless ya) More

Moon Over Marin is the song Jello Biafra is most tired of being asked to play, so I'd say that's overplayed.  No song of theirs could possibly be overrated, and my favorite is Police Truck.

...going back to the 80's...

Oh, did somebody say "80's"?  I usually avoid the music board.  Not sure why I like this thread.

Police:
Over: Every breath you take
Under: Every little thing she does is magic
Fave:  Can't stand losing you

REM:
Over: Orange crush
Under: Superman
Fave:  Voice of Harold (obscure) or Stand (not so obscure)

Talking Heads:
Over:  Burning down the house
Under: Nothing but flowers
Fave:  Life during wartime

B52's
Over: Rock Lobster
Under: Deadbeat club
Fave: Planet Claire or Love Shack (which, technically, should be an "over", but I never seem to tire of it)

Hey, it's my tiny, little IMDb!
