Post a snippet or a phrase of a song

Name the song and artist

Continue by posting a new one

There's a port on a western bay

And it serves a hundred ships a day

Lonely sailors pass the time away

And talk about their homes

And there's a girl in this harbor town...

Nice idea GW  But how can we stop 'cheating' by googling the lyrics? we can't!!

That song is 'Brandy' from about 1972. Can't remember the singer.

Maybe just post a couple of lines to make it harder?

'Sometimes I wish I knew you well,
then I could speak my mind and tell you...
Maybe you'd understand...'

awesome GW!  Thought that one would be a toughie!  Great song by George, by the way. And his mates did a top version of it at his memorial gig.

Um, your one is 'Gold' by ...shit, can't remember his name - John somebody with Fleetwood Mac people helping.

I refuse to google for answers!!!

Ok, mine is:

'So said the lighthouse keeper,
as he struggled up the spiral stairs,
which lead him to the laser flares, which scanned the cosmic void'.

Good luck wihout googling!!

Idiot.  It was China Grove, by the Doobie Bros.  And I knew that without Googling.

I will let your lyrics stand as the question, though, as they are kind of trippy.

--------- [Edit:  Screw it, I should get one, too.  Next up can answer either one]

Have you heard the news?
The dogs are dead!
You better stay home
And do as you're told.
Get out of the road if you want to grow old.

No need... Klaatu... "so said the lighthouse keeper."  Too easy.   But like bert stated you got it wrong.  Nice try though.

@Bert.... I hate to google, and I'm a big music buff... so I'll simmer on your lyrics.  I think I can get it before someone does.

Pink Floyd. Sheep. No Google. I've been listening to that album since I was 11.

"Now the killer was smiling
With nerves made of stone
He climbed the stairs
And the gallows groaned
And the people's hearts were pounding
They were throbbing, they were red
As he swung out ofver the crowd
I heard the hangman said..."
