Yes. Exciting isn't it?

It's entirely possible there may be a few who have a general, if not specific, idea of what the OWC could be.... they are on my twitter and/or Facebook. Will they partake in it is another matter.

For those of us who are not 'joiners' what do you mean?

P.S. Is 'dum' a typo, Don? And meant to be the usual 'drum'??

In the previous OWC, Mr. Blonde chose the topic. This time around, another SS member has done the same. That's my understanding. I wonder who...

Y'know something? I didn't notice until just now.
Drum? meh. More like a tuba in an F/F sharp.

Sweet. We might even get perps who entered the last one and didn't review to enter this one and not review any!  One of them might actually win it again and be never heard of again, again!

Indeed Stevie,

I do recall a bit of that going on. Shameful. They could have at least given mine a good kicking and hated the end, like many others did.

Yes. It is a small clue. And yes, panic.

Anyway...

Quoted from Silverback

Grene" Romance

I'm still wondering what March snow brings...
In any case, if anyone wants additional clues, I'll accept Silverback's quote here. Also --

Because it is romantic! It's a party. Boy meets girl. Girl flirts. Boy gets bombed. Girl wants Boy to follow her. Boy eager for action, does not hesitate! Girl is less drunk, but gets nekkid anyway. Girl taunts Boy, asks him what's taking him so long. It's no fun being alone. She's not. Boy slips and passes out like the loser he is. Little does he know, he still gets lucky!

Come to think of it, the end result wasn't that romantic at all :p

I'll leave it at that for now.

Adum and Eve. A different take on religious story? Uh, like Noah? Easter is coming soon so maybe something to do with that?

Right. I got nothing.

Well, count me in as well. These OWCs are always fun. They're really good exercise.

Anyone want to swap feedback, by the way.

I have a script I'm thinking of using as a writing sample to create some interest in my original stuff. It's my take on STAR WARS EPISODE 7. I have new cast and some favourites from the original trilogy. I took a more Dark Knight approach. I imagined it as one film of a trilogy.

If anyone's interested let me know. I'd really appreciate it and I'd do my best to give solid feedback in return.

I can't wait to find out what this OWC will be.

I highlighted part of your quote. Noah had a boat. I'd say it was a "big" enough "boat". Same with the "Mayflower" I highlighted earlier. I know, I know. One was an Ark and the other a ship.  Anyway, .rain was also highlighted because with boats, chances are there is water nearby.

As for a different, em, kind of water the answer is no. There will be no pissers in the wind.

If you haven't written it yet, why bother? You can't do a whole lot with it. Which reminds me. I'll say this. When the OWC is offically revealed (and yes, I know what it is) you might like it. It is slightly different than most OWC we have had. I expect some questions. I will provide some answers. I'm making up some general guidelines,

II'm going to ask Don if we can move this thread into the April OWC.
I'm liking the guessing games. Speaking of which,  the usual first question - aliases/- anonymity - will be encouraged.

So if you write the OWC script w/ Noah's Ark, we'll know it was you

Hey Guys,

Haven't been around for a while as I have been so freakin' busy...

If you google the definition of "dum" you get...

dum
/dʌm/
adjective
Indian adjective: dum

1. cooked with steam.
"dum aloo"

So it has to be a Bollywood screenplay about cooking poppadoms !!!! or are they cooked on a hot plate !!! Hee Hee

As you can see, the thread has been moved. Now there's something in the 'April 2014' OWC.

Here's some  fun and useless factoids:

  • Expect the offical announcement in regards to theme and topic sometime on March 28th

  • There will be a tenative Skype chat on Thursday March 27th More details during that week. It depends on schedules, but most likely will happen 10pm- 12am EST. All all welcome to drop in.

  • Clues were given in this thread. With the exception of dum/dun, they won't be repeated.

  • All that have/will join SS by the end of the OWC target date (4/3/14) are eligible for this OWC. Anyone new after that can read, respond and vote etc.

Isn't that a toilet?

Bloody thou art, bloody will be thy end
Shame serves thy life and doth thy death attend

We'll be right back with more speculation after the break.

You can't fool me. It's not dun it's dum - the m was cut in half to confuse us. dum is ofc short for Dumbledore which means the OWC will be a Harry Potter Fanfiction.

It's the only theory which makes any sense if you think about it at a certain angle and repeatedly beat yourself about the head with a hammer.

Darren - you involved this time?

I have to say I'm working on another competition at the moment and it's fair to say my creativity has left the building. It better come back...

This time?
I know some things I do are under the radar, but ...

Yeah. This was my idea and Don okd it.
Come to think it, I'm glad you brung up "creativity". I'm going to bring out a shiny quarter. Heads means one thing and tails means another. Sort of. Folks will know next week.

Quoted from MarkRenshaw
You can't fool me. It's not dun it's dum - the m was cut in half to confuse us. dum is ofc short for Dumbledore which means the OWC will be a Harry Potter Fanfiction.

It's the only theory which makes any sense if you think about it at a certain angle and repeatedly beat yourself about the head with a hammer.

The 'Dum' was a typu.
It got mprhed into dun then back to dum.
It wasn't even Dun who started it

But ironically, it does loosely fit in with the topic.
It appears to have taken on a whole new meaning as well.
'Dum' might as well be a happy accident.

I don't know why but each time I see that little red a dun... a dun.. I think of the Jaws theme song.

Short shark script? I'd be super into that.

Let's be honest Rene ...you only turn up for the OWC,  just like out of the blue, just happened to call In,  on the same day, what a coincidence etc etc

Which is just as well, since you write some bloody good scripts

Let's hope it's a decent challenge

My scripts  HERE

The Elevator Most Belonging To Alice - Semi Final Bluecat, Runner Up Nashville
Inner Journey - Page Awards Finalist - Bluecat semi final
Grieving Spell - winner - London Film Awards.  Third - Honolulu
Ultimate Weapon - Fresh Voices - second place

I sure hope so too.
By the way...maybe it's time for one more hint for people.

The previous OWC was time travel into the past.
The upcoming OWC was inspired by a film that dealt with time travel into the future.
That date of...October 25, 2015 will be closing in...

The Tumblr post also points out that for a movie to be considered a "feature film" by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, American Film Institute and British Film Institute, it must be at least 40 minutes long. So "even if your film is 40 straight minutes of a rubber shark floating quietly in a bathtub, it still fulfills what I am asking of you in the challenge." And this is a challenge to preserve the space-time continuum, so you know it's important.

So this is the challenge: 40 straight minutes of a rubber shark floating quietly in a bathtub. Limited locations, no special effects. But you can turn the lights on and off if you think it'll whip things up a little.

First of all, let's put to rest a few things.

Regardless of what script is written and length therof, how such a filmmaker chooses to film it if they film it is up to them.   They cou;d go ASylum or RHI budget if they desire. It's not my problem, and it won't be yours.

I do in fact know of some low budget filmmakers who are attempting to get fan-films off the ground (or in the water) via kickstarter. He's not having much luck. Last I checked he's raised around a thousand. (I know of him due to to him optioning two of my short scripts which he never got around to doing) I wish him the best of luck.

But what if other filmmakers want to give it a go...? They might need to find some existing scripts, right? Or just have a shark themed story in general?

BTW, Star Wars started off with an Episode IV, Bill Cosby (sadly) had a Leonard Part 6 and if a film wanted to call itself 'Jaws 19' who's gonna stop 'em?

The Tumbler quotes was from a Jaws / Back To The Future fan who made a case for filmmakers out there to crank out 15 Jaws movies by October 2015. I myself didn't take much notice until one such ultra low budget filmmaker wanted to rise to the challenge.

The OWC will be along the same ground. The catch is although the OWC will be called 'Jaws 19" or something like that, I'm putting in some guides where it will be in name only and not fan-fic although if one wanted to tip Harry's bad hat and shout out to the coastal resort town of ol' Amity (something that could be easiliy excised- it won't be a requirement) that'll be fine.

If the trouser's fit then they're yours.

Probably.

Likely.

Do you like the color?

Yes, what the challenge was about was posted ten minutes ago for about 60 seconds then removed.

Up to and including the final day.

It is highly recommended that you take some time to think on your story prior to its submission.

Quality impresses everyone.  Speed impresses no one.  At least, not on these boards.
