Welcome to the Simply Scripts July One Week Challenge!
Writers will have 1 week to conceive and write a short script, based on the parameters given below. Scripts must be submitted to:
http://www.simplyscripts.com/unpro_short_exercise_13_07.html by July 12th 11:59 pm EST.
Questions are always welcome, but all the information you need is given below.
This is an anonymous challenge and it’s appreciated if writers do not exchange their scripts with others taking part in the challenge.
THEME - A child (6-12) makes a miraculous discovery in the Pacific Northwest, which could alter mankind as we now know it.
GENRE - Horror, Thriller, Action, Adventure. No Comedy, no pissers, no Drama.
MPAA Rating - R - if not familiar with what R rated material is, please see
http://www.mpaa.org/ratings/what-each-rating-means NOTE - In no way are we encouraging younger writers to write anything they do not feel comfortable with, including sex, violence, nudity, or language.
Story to take place in July 2013.
Script length - 9-12 pages (the title page does not count as a page).
Budget - Unlimited, but…
No firearms of any kind, no projectile weaponry, no weapons of mass destruction, no explosions, no large scale destruction of any kind, including natural disasters. No vehicle stunts or crashes.
The locale (including geography, climate, etc) must be front and center in your script. The majority of the story must take place outside. If unfamiliar with the Pacific Northwest, please see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Northwest , or any other research you may want to do.
Good luck to all and remember that although this is a challenge, there are no winners and losers, as the reality is that all who take place are winners for taking part.

Good luck to all. Let's keep the tradition of getting one of these OWCs produced on!
Despite the fact that the mpaa link is not working, this looks like it has some potential.
I like the genres.

Wide open potential here. Just because the budget is unlimited, don't think that means you have to write a huge budget script. Hope we get a great turnout for this.

It somehow feels constricting even with the semi-open theme to me. Luckily I've got an idea though. The challenge is definitely unique, reading the entries is gonna be a blast.
Good job, guys!

Shocking, I know.
Glad a few are OK with this so far. Restrictions are few but parameters may be tight.

A query bro? Why does the locale and climate have to be important? Can u give us some more insight into that?
