While you are waiting for me to stop mindless postings and get to work on getting the OWC scripts up, I thought I'd share some background on the melody that was provided by Norm Sherman of The Drabblecast.    The melody provided for the OWC (which you can listen to here) came from Norm's recent song The Heartache Over Innsmouth, written in honor of H. P. Lovecraft's 119th birthday.

H.P. Lovecraft (in addition to being the patron saint of The Drabblecast) was an author of weird fiction stories in the early part of the 20th century on planet Earth.  One of his most famous works is The Call of Cthulhu.

The song, known as a Bbardle, was commissioned by Tom Baker of Steradian Technologies (which makes guns for kids...).  Also, if you make a generous donation to The Drabblecast, Norm will write a song for you.

Below is the music video of Heartache Over Innsmouth.  The song makes much more sense if you are familiar with Lovecraft's story The Shadow over Innsmouth. - Don

That was class. Boy meets girl. Girl develops unusual strong interest in cults. Gills develop above her clavicle. Happens every day.

How amazing! There're the exact lyrics I thought about! (if I would have run the OWC of course...)

That's interesting, Don.

When I was writing for Cielo (Zack hasn't got back to me in months but I sent him a 50 page rewrite and told him to go for it) and Michael Previte was helping me out with a read, he mentioned that what I had built into one of the scenes was a reference to Lovecraft.

I had to research it because I didn't know Lovecraft. I've lived a sheltered life.

Anyways, just another mention of how much one learns in their travels here on Simply.

Thank you for sharing this, Don.

I think it may have been nice to have listened to it before the OWC, It would have cut down the amount of queries generated by a lot who were trying to figure out where to put words, lol...

I quite liked this piece!

Seriously this time, Lovecraft was my main inspiration for my horror script Incantations .

This script should be produced next year with a new title "Sage".

Lovecraft was a great writer and the source of many movies.

This is too rad! Lovecraft is amazing and soft rock love songs based on the mythos sounds even moreso. I'll have to check out more of this stuff. Very cool/hilarious!

Must be that pen name of yours that stimulates your thoughts, LMAO
although it would have to be "RENDEZVOUS"
I like your sense of humour though

I didn't want to influence the direction of anyone's script or music by releasing Norm's music and lyrics prior to the challenge.

A Lovecraftian Romantic Comedy?  Oh yeah, there are a few members that would have been all over that -- myself included.

And here I was thinking there was just no way to make this challenge interesting for myself.

I obviously did not think hard enough.

How romantic!

Quasi-ichthian angel.
Starry-eyed webbed-foot wonderful.
Fish-frog demagogue sweetheart.

That was great. Norm has some sense of humour.

Yep. Nothing can melt the 8 chambered "heart" of an amphibioid demigod like a Bic-worthy power ballad.
