9. Exchange Student by A Horror Author - Short, Horror - A cocky college student investigating a dimensional portal on Halloween encounters an unexpected surprise.
Alright, I’m not “really” reading your screenplay, I’m going to “watch” this short horror-fantasy film and just make comments as I “watch.”
With a title like ‘Exchange Student’ I’m expecting the exchange student will be either the antagonist or protagonist. Hardly an ominous nor powerful title, BTW. Might be a bit toooo understated.
Very nice opening scene, gets right to the point. Like it.
Obligatory how-did-it-come-to-this flashback story...
Portal’s kinduva… elementary solution. Eh… whatever. Go with it.
Cool creature!
Nice library scene.
Terms and conditions of the “exchange” are rather childishly altruistic for someone so committed to his cause, as well as his equipment for documenting his travels: smartphone. Yay. (rolls eyes.)
I’m not real clear on the cthulhu gang bang resulting in Will’s head stuck on one of their bodies. Is there now a cthulhu head running amok with a human body somewhere? (chuckles)
Relationship angle seems shoehorned in.
And… he eats the human heart. Okay, then...
Rannnndommm!!! LOL!
Pretty good premise, the underlying structure is good.
Suggested construct alternatives:
- Make the library a private library (It’s not your budget, so gopherit! LOLOL!)
- Make the relationship more of a threading theme rather than a two snippets thing.
- Have Captain Will-T-Kirk go exploring strange new worlds with more than a smartphone.
- Conclude with a cthulhu head on a human body staggering down the desert trail towards Will’s Jeep.
