The October, 2012 One Week Challenge theme was Odd but interesting character(s) take refuge from a hurricane in a beat-up motel and are forced to make a choice between good or evil in order to survive the night.

Participants had one week to write a 6 - 12 page script on the genre and theme.   There were 36 scripts which were read and discussed over on the discussion board.  One script was selected to be audio performed by the fine folks over at iScript.com.

That selected script is The Ledger by Rene Claveau.

When travelers take refuge from a hurricane, they learn not all shelters are safe havens.

You can read along with the pdf version of the script.  You can discuss this script and all the OWC entries here.  Visit The Main Site and click the "Play" button to listen to the script.
{note: This audio recording is released under a Creative Commons, attribution, noncommercial, no derivatives 3.0 license. You can share the audio recording in its entirety, but you can't change it or sell it. }

Thanks to everyone who participated in the challenge. - Don

Very special thanks to iScript.com for sponsoring the challenge and selecting the final script.

Very cool!

Thanks to iScript.com, they really brought the characters to life. First time I've heard my dialogue really acted out, it's encouraging and enlightening.

Hey Rene,

Well done. Decent script, good idea, but for me a classic OWC. You know, good idea, well executed, but if you were given an extra week, maybe two, it would be different.

I cracked this open and with time limited, really enjoyed the 10 mins I had. The iscript is an interesting thing. The actor did well under the circumstances but trying to do men and women with such a range is asking something of one person, but still...have you heard your script before?  Because I  the hell haven't, so must be something to hear your words spoken. I look forward to that day.

All the best.

Cheers

Bill

Ps sorry read your note above, after writing, and spotted your comment about you not hearing your written words before. I  Should have read that before. However, isn't it great to have been given that gift. The wonders of SS.

Hey Rene. I missed this until someone told me it was here...

Haven't heard it yet, but wanted to say congrats, bro!  Well deserved.  Very cool.

I'll throwout a few words after I listen to it.

Great job.
