I thought I thanked you for Davood and said "Davood it is". Hmm, must have left it on some other thread. Anyway, thanks.
And by the way, I faded out!! Good luck to all and by "good luck" I mean good luck on you to finally finish it and call it a completed feature. Although that'll still be pre-first draft yada-yada.
I still need to insert two more scenes, two places need a major redo as they don't make sense - I copy pasted etc. But that's pre-rewrite work. Still a lot to do. Fade Out doesn't mean anything these days...
With all the shorts done, I'm working on making it cohesive and fluid.

What are you all writing about? It's not anonymous, so we can share a bit here I think. I already told mine, most of it at least.
I can't wait to read your stories because it's a hard subject - shorts that are interrelated but each can stand on its own. I'm not sure if I succeeded. But I'm curious to see what it should be like. I haven't watched the Night At the Museum. Maybe I should.
Mine's centers around Santaria, a religion some people practice in the Spanish culture. However, I created a somewhat new religion loosely based off it. Don't want to disrespect the people's religion.

I have some references to religious practices which I researched to get them right. And then there's my completely made up crap about magical spells.
Still working on mine. Im getting to my first tale in the feature.
I always keep budget in mind. Since Im writing it, I always consider myself the director as well. Probably explains why I mess up in my writing a lot lol.
Regarding 5 characters, do you mean overall in the feature or in a short?

As written, two of my vignettes require significant special effects, and a third might find special effects easier than practical effects. There's also a montage that ping-pongs around several cities, but a clever crew can fake that.
Planning to do a rewrite after I get a couple of reviews in so I can submit it to contests for next year.

It's more a problem that the stories in my head aren't compatible with no-budget filmmaking. For example, most of the scenes in "A Moment of Reflection" would require double-pass filming.
When they were planning Lord of the Rings, they were worried they'd need to use triple-pass filming (Hobbit pass, Dwarf pass, Human/Elf pass), but lucked out by casting an actor for the Dwarf who was actually that much bigger than the actors for the Hobbits.
When there’s a will, there’s a way. I think they would have found a way to resolve that if it didn’t pan out.
I wouldn’t stress it much. If they got lucky, why can you?

I wouldn't stress it either, it's just I'm trying to come up with something low budget for a long time and fail again and again. That fire is a killer. But I already came up with something else. It was so easy but no I had to go with fire inside the building. How's it even possible.
Probably depends what you're writing for. If you want to submit it to comps the budget shouldn't really matter. If you don't want to bother with the comps, I guess the lower the budget is the better. But it's not the rule perhaps either.
Worse case scenario, you can use the script as a calling card for other writing jobs.
But for now, no need to worry. Go with where the story takes you. If that means a fire, have fire lol. You can change it later on or we can help you come up with something low budget when we read it.
No stress.
