I can't speak for Blondie, I can only reiterate what his instructions were: Pick from the list - object, location, character, genre, and take into consideration the overall theme.
We didn't have a big conversation - Warren just said over to you (this week) and then next week he gets first dibs. I know there's three of you but you've got more choices in the bag, right? I think too many conversations about genre preferences might lead to you guys losing valuable time. You're going to have to cover genres you don't particularly lean towards either way.
You might have to elect a Captain and draw out of a hat if you can't agree.
The deadline for us Aussies is: 1:59PM Tuesday 7th.
I elected myself captain! Lol. Genres have been assigned. But our issue is going to be time zones. Waiting for ant to choose first this week, then ben, then me...but 3 people in 3 different time zones...ugh.
^ Of course you did, Marnie. After all we girls do make the best leaders. Only NZ has caught onto that so far, oh, and Germany. Wow, you assigned genres? I hadn't even thought of doing that.
I'll leave it to Blondie to say anymore on the time-zone issues. This is his baby after all. Don't want to overstep.

Well I figured the one advantage we had being 3 was more wiggle room with the 10 genres. So we each listed from fave to least fave to see where we stood and we all ended up with genres we're comfy with, and 5 reserve. Now just waiting for week one choices.
Tactical move, Marnie. There's nothing to say in the rules how we all get to the point of agreement. You lot so far are playing to your strengths. It will be interesting to see how it pans out in the end.
The main bugbear of mine at the moment is the theme, and working that in. I hope the themes appeal more as we go on.
My group is communicating now about genre preferences - but I have NO IDEA what we're aiming to achieve in agreement. Can someone help me?
And can we please take into account time zones? I'm Queensland Australia time and I also work full time professional job that is infamously time consuming./exhausting (no excuses - just trying to explain why you're getting messages from me at odd hours)
You're agreeing to only use one variable in each category, each week. No duplicates.
You know, I tried taking time zones into account. But, when the people who entered had accounted for about 16 of the possible 24 time zones, what did people think was going to happen?
Blondie, re: location, does it ALL have to take place there, or can it be just the prominent setting? Or is it that it just has to be "a" setting among many others?
We discussed this already. No, it doesn't all have to take place there, but it should be prominently featured.
What about the time zones? Honestly, I already don't care. This whole thing became a disaster and it hasn't even been going for half a day, yet.
If you don't like your teammate's time zones, take five variables and join up with someone else. I don't care. It doesn't matter to me.
There's no way in hell I'm running this again next year.
It's the partner thing, Sean. It was probably too much. It's 5 elements - a theme, a prop, a character, a genre and a location, and then we have to try to coordinate our schedules with someone, potentially across the globe, during a very difficult time. It's not like we don't appreciate your efforts; I mean, we're all in it willingly to try to have some fun... but how much is too much?

AJR
Week one will be the roughest, but we'll all figure it out. Figure out a happy medium in your time zones for communication. I have 2 partners...one 5 hours ahead of me, the other 14! But we'll git er done.
I think it's a great challenge. Like NYCMM but with a few extra plot twists!

Yeah, you're right. It probably was too much. I figured, with all the people dropping out that the reading problem would take care of itself, but I didn't properly account for the time zones being such a limiting factor.
Still, if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. I'd rather it fail after giving an honest effort than not having tried at all.
If it becomes too much for you guys, don't worry about it. Remember, it's all for fun and there are no prizes. If you want to challenge yourselves, save your topics and challenge yourself after the tournament and see if you can pull off a script without the worry of a partner or the time constraint.
A quick question. Me and Mark have different ideas on what to use first. Do we both have to agree on genre, item, location, and character type? Just to clarify. We both like each other'suggestions. I might go with his suggestions.

Funny, my wife and I had that conversation over coffee this morning. We're watching the news and they report zero cases in New Zealand.
DAVE Wow, that's amazing.
WIFE No, it's expected.
DAVE Say what now?
WIFE What do New Zealand and this house have in common?
DAVE Not a clue.
WIFE They're both run by women. Now, take out the trash.

Stepping on Sean’s territory:
I think all you need is Mark’s approval on your selections. If you like his suggestions all the better I guess. Mark needs your approval on his selections too

Short simple version is that you don't use the same variables at any point, You don't have to agree on what the other person uses. You just have to agree that you won't use theirs and they won't use yours.
