Here's a question:

What do I do if I'm way past page 5 with my idea and I need to get rid of a few things in it but the best one to drop is the place and the object I'm trying to wedge in?
Otherwise I'll be getting rid of all the good stuff.

No DQs, but do that at your own peril. You're at the reviewers' mercy...

Had a lovely dinner tonight, including friends of my kids, nice big family stuff, all the while I’m thinking......I’ve got a bloody script to write......including a Cucumber and a UFO
This challenge is not getting better..

Ha! Bill, I do that all the time. Or, Hubby is talking about something - politics or Covid, or something, and I'm devising plot in my head. And then he says, what do you think? And I say, what? Oh, sorry I was away with the fairies.

I know!
I know what to do with the Assigned Character. I'll put him/her right on the title page as in "written by an Assigned Character"
It's not wedged in.
It's important as no script would be written without him.

By George, I think I've got it! And by "got it" I mean a complete story that incorporates all variables and theme...that everyone will hate. Yes!!

I wrote 5 pages, smug with myself for finishing and then re-read it and realised I'd used the object in round one - ooops!

I'm right with you,  buddy. The 5 page count is killing me. How do you cram 3 acts and express this theme in 5 pages!?

Several pages written then whittled down to five. Will recheck, edit and check again tomorrow because today is pub day. First time in four months I’m seeing my mates. So script work is on hold for one day. Possibly two

If at first you don't succeed........bribe someone.

The first draft is written. I like it, the family likes it and this is the first time the story has smoothly slotted into the page limit.

It's going to be a complete disaster.

Oh, boy. Feeling good about a script? That's a really bad sign.
