I read this a few years back. It's pretty good. The movies aren't that great at all, but these books are good. I think anyone who wants a good read should pick this up.

I've read through most of these. I have the last two at home, but I haven't yet read them. It has some great characters and incredible pacing. I once read the first seven books in under a week because once they kick off, they don't slow down. One of the best page turners I've ever read.

I just wished the movies were the same way. This last movie that just came out isn't all that great. Neither are the last ones, really.

The movies departed too far from the books to work. In the books, Buck is a newspaper reporter, where in the movies, he does television. Yet his written prowess becomes a major point in the series. In the book, Buck says he would have trouble addressing Dr. Rosensweig by his first name, yet in the movie, he does this without a problem. I think with the movie, they tried to squeeze as much as possible into it, but in the process, lost a lot of the heart that the books had. Would have worked better as a longer series or with fewer characters.
