You may want to narrow this down a little.  It's like asking for a great history book, or the best book on vampires.

(Phantoms in the Brain) is one of the best books I've ever read.  Really good "psychological" look into some  unusual minds.  Don't know if this is what you're aiming for, though.

I still have the textbook they handed out when I got to uni (i'm not near the bookshelf else I'd give you the ISBN; just phone a uni prof and ask which one they give out these days). Excellent reference and it contains everything. And when I want to research a particular POV or experiment, I buy the primer or the in-depth book on that particular subject.
