Wherein you shamelessly plug a writing achievement.  If you have an achievement regarding a script you already have on the discussion board, put that shameless plug there.  However, if you have a writing achievement, like: IMDB page, new movie out, Selling your book on Amazon, giving a talk about writing, your podcast, 'zine or substack, Script Options & Sales, Comp wins, writing assignments, etc.  Not sure what to brag about?  Check the archives here: https://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-brag/m-1364781271/s-all/

Start a new thread or add to the archives!

Thanks to Pia and LC for resurrecting this idea and keeping on me until I did something about it.

Great to see the new board, Don!

I will just add to the above: Script Options & Sales, Comp wins, writing assignments etc.

Now there's a place to show off with uninhibited abandon.

Well, not to jinx anything, but the feature Erik (you remember him, don’t you?) and I wrote together may have something brewing. After finishing the script, I proceeded to query, what, it had to be close to 200 production companies. We got a few industry reads, which haven’t led anywhere yet. However, there’s been movement as of just this week. Anyone care to guess where this producer found our script when I asked him? Huh? Anyone?

Simply Freakin Scripts, is where!

So, just goes to show you that SS was, and remains, a rock star site, in case you had any doubt. Now, we both know it may lead nowhere, but the signs have been encouraging, even for me, and I’ve had my share of false starts and early celebrations only to lead to heartbreak. It’s all part of the game. And I love this game.

Will provide more details at an appropriate time. Till then, we keep on writing.

Steve

Crossing everything for you Steve, and 'the new guy aka Erik'. 🤣
So, which script is this? I think I had feedback written out that I didn't post.

Either way, post a link - all in the name of self-promotion of course.

And tell new guy we want him in the OWC, or the upcoming tournament. Or both.

P.S. I'm assuming you'll open a new thread if something pans out.

Walking Into Murder.

I think you did mention you were going to check it out or had checked it out. Not too sure now. Hopefully we’ll have to take it down, but for now it’s still up round here somewhere.

I have none.

It makes perfect sense when you consider there are zero obstacles and restrictions between writers and readers here. No paywalls, no read request foolishness.

A long, long, long time ago in the early days of SS, I was told my script Kirkwood was a meandering mess and said writer couldn't get past page 10.

I found that unacceptable, and have since done a page one overhaul and submitted to Writemovies 2025 Spring Competition.   I just found out I placed in the top 18 out of 1K plus submissions.

Eric, I get you. When I first came here a few years ago and posted scripts I got pretty much exactly what you’re describing for reviews. To be clear, I had zero screenwriting credentials. I had a degree in science -  not screenwriting.  The only thing I had going for me was a love of writing and telling a story. At first I was devastated by the awful comments and retreated to my corner to lick my wounds. But then something else took over and I decided to tough it out. I am thankful every day for that decision. The naysayers have disappeared and the constructive voices took their place.  From them I have learned so much.  I love the work that you and Steve have created. I read it early on and loved it. Wishing you both all good things with this work.

Best wishes always,

Kathy

FYI: Eric above, is not Steve's writing partner, Erik.

That said, well done, Eric! 😄
