I think a good idea would be having the scripts you wrote in your profile.

When you click on someones name. It would have a thing that shows you all the scripts they wrote. Personally i want to read scripts by some certain authors and it would be a lot easier to have them right there instead of looking all around.

What do you think?

Probably the closest we could get to that is putting the scripts in your signature, which several of us already do. It's a personal preference, and not everyone agrees with it. As for putting scripts in your profile, I don't think the board has an allowance for that, since you can't put in a paragraph about yourself in your profile.

The second closest would be having a website where you keep all your scripts.

I think it opens up a can of worms to be honest, we already have the useless board called bragging rights which is another way of stroking an ego. I doubt you can do that other than the signature, people use it for different things.

I like to promote upcoming episodes of a certain series, others like to promote all the stuff they have and others just like to say some quotes.

I don't even know if that's possible, I guess you'll have to see what Don says. Only he knows what he can and can't do with the board.

I think it's a good idea. If the information is in the profile page, it's not distracting here but easy to access for those who are interested of those sorts of things.

The signature is probably the best way to do it.

Websites are always good, or pm's. The fact remains, good idea or not it may not be a possibility on this boards engine.

And I don't think people should use the bragging rights section just to list a script they've written.  If it won an award or is being optioned or produced, yeah, that's fine but writing it, by itself, isn't worthy of bragging.

Man, if the profile could accomodate that it would be great.

Aside from easy access to the works of others, it would kind of negate the signature issue.  I've got my current work (and will place subsequent works) in the signature, but I feel kind of like a slut doing it, you know?

If you feel like a slut doing it, welcome to the industry. Unless you make an effort to get yourself under the lava lamp, you'll never get yourself noticed or read.

However, I think I've gotten more mileage on posts about my scripts or having mentioned them in RELEVANT discussions than I likely have placing them in my signature.

I really don't know what it means either, but it sure sounded cool when I wrote it down. Use it. Wear it out. Figure out what it might mean to you.

My dream is to write a post that I don't have to modify because I misspelled a word...

That's actually a term from the sixties, when lava lamps became very popular.  'Being under the lava lamp' means to desire some attention but not to be the center of attention.  People will notice you by the lava lamp, but they'll be staring at the lamp.

Just kidding.  I never heard of the phrase before.  'Under the Lava Lamp' is a good title for a story, though....

And it's a really, really great definition. I bought it. And then you ruined for me. Thanks a lot.

I'll start using it following your definition from now on. You've just created folklore. Congratulations.
