I am currently taking a writing class in college, and my professor know writer Hallie Ephron, who in turn knows her sister Nora Ephron.  We will be talking to Hallie several times throughout the semester, and I find myself in what some might see as an ethical quagmire.  the class is about more than just screenplays. In fact, we will touch on it just briefly.  We will concentrate more on radio and tv comercials, tv pilots, and radio theater.

I am chomping at the bit to ask my teacher to read the first 10-20 pages of my script, which part of is a tribute to When Harry Met Sally...written by Nora Ephron.  Would it be wrong of me to ask her to read it, when: 1) I am wanting her professional input, and after all, she is my teacher, and 2) she might like it, see how I incorporated WHMS, and point me in the right direction of getting this thing to the right people.  I know that I am severly reaching here, but I am a firm believer in hard work paying off as long as you are willing to sieze the moment when it comes.  This could be the chance I am looking for...almost a 7 degrees to Nora Ephron for me.  She is so close I can feel it, and I don't want to let this opportunity get away from me.

Appreciate any advice, even if it states that I'm dreaming.  I know that I am, but then again, aren't we all?

What have you got to lose by asking her to read it? She's teaching a writing class and you want her to read your work. I'm sure she'd be happy to if she has time. I'm not sure what you're worried about.
