I love games and I know a lot of other people do. I can't go a day without playing my Xbox 360 or Sony PSP. I've had a look around the boards and can't find one specific to computer games. Have I missed it... am I blind?
Anyway, there's a discussion board for books, music, television and poetry... I thought it might be cool to have a games board too. You know, to discuss current games and consoles or game to film adaptations, which are always fun to talk about . Anyone else think so...? Is there one already that I've missed or... I don't know, what does anyone else think?
Don should also make a movie section. Not like the Movie/Television Rumor section or the Movie/Television Review section, but a topic on homemade movies made by the very people here on Simply Scripts.
I'm sure a lot of people here have made homemade movies and I would enjoy watching them (I even have my own, one I posted up on the General Chat section).
Well, this is called "Simply Scripts" not "Simply Movies" or "Simply Entertainment." Having a homemade movie section would make this more of a film makers site rather than a screenwriters site.
As for the games section...it'd be pretty cool, but I'm not sure how many of us here play video games...meaning it would be a waste of space if it was a dead board. And you can talk about film adaptations all ya' want already in the section for upcoming films.
It doesn't matter to me. The only game I play right now is Halo, and I just got that for computer because I read the Halo script on here and thought it was pretty cool. Other than that, I haven't played a video game (for a console at least) this entire year...and I'm proud of it!
I consider myself a gamer and wouldn’t mind seeing a gaming board but I know that it will never happen. There seems to be an anti-youth movement going on right now on this site and if one thing epitomizes youth, it is video games.

Though earth and man are gone, I thought the cube would last forever. I WAS WRONG.
Yeah...I knew there was something going on like that. But I think it should be an anti-immature movement, because there are quite a few adults who act like they’re 10.

I agree.

Yeah, good point, though there's a load of game to film adaptations coming out within the next few years such as Halo, the new Resi Evil and other Uwe Boll & Paul WS Anderson specials .
I've played video games most of my life. It started with the Atari 2600 at a neighbor's house in 81(?) and moved on to a little know system called a TI-99/4A which did programming and games in 82-6, a Nintendo 8-bit in 86, Gameboy in 89, Super Nintendo in...er...whenever it came out, to getting a Sega Genesis/CD & Sega Master System (still fun, by the way) in 94, to a Nintendo 64 in 98, to a Gamecube in 03, and I'm seriously looking forward to the Wii later this year. I've also had multiple games for the PC's I've had from 89 to the present and had opportunities to play games on Xbox (mostly Halo) and Playstation (which I didn't like).
I've played a lot of games and to be honest, I think a new board would depend on the direction you would want to take with it. Are you wanting a review board where everyone discusses their general opinions on a game or somthing where people ask how to get past the monster on level 6?
Thinking about this, I am not entirely certain it would be a good idea for this board, since we are about movies and not video games. For games, you have multiple other sites that will cater to this such as ign.com to name one off the top of my head. I think General Chat would be the best place to discuss the games for now and if there seems to be an overwhelming number of games discussed, then it may warrant another board, but until then, that's my opinion.
And no, I have no control over creating new boards. I'm just giving my thoughts.
I suppose it would be too much for just talking about game to film adaptations. There's not a whole deal out there but there could be discussions on which games could be and should be made and others that shouldn't. And I agree that there are other places on the net to chat about games, cheats and tops, etc. I dunno .
Personally, I think game-to-film adaptation rarely work because people have the game in their head when they wantch the film and when the film doesn't do what the game does, it gets immediately poo-pooed. Add to this that the filmmakers try to cater a movie to a game audience, which alienates the movie crowd who also poo-poo the film.
Games are first person films which lack the necessary interaction and character building a movie requires. This means for a game story to work on film, you have to add characters to interact with the lead and make the lead human which means giving him a story he may or may not have had in the game.
I like game stories but realize a direct adapatation would suck as a movie. I drew inspiration from a game once and made a script out of it. The script is nothing like the game since I was free to do whatever I wanted to it without being limited by the game's universe and characters. You take inspiration where you can get it. I was inspired by this game's trailer. Anyone? Feel free to compare Vexx to The Armor of Belial...you'll notice some remarkable similarities, and yet, as I've never actually played the game, all my inspiration was drawn from a 90 second trailer: Click here for the trailer
I do enjoy gaming but I prefer to keep my games and my screenwriting separate, if it happens I'll post on it. The Books board is dead. Voice Over is almost dead, the Western genre and Anime are basically dead as well.
I guess you can say what you said Phil for every single board on this board, why do we need a personal board and a general one? The collaborative effort is useless. Half of the boards are used so little that I do not blame him for suggesting this.
General Chat sums up everything, start a video game thread and see where it goes. Eight pages later maybe Don and others will view it seriously as something that may work.

I'm going to e-mail Don and suggest another lock down.
