Here is another Moderator issue that maybe the general population can chime in on.  I’m curious if others feel the same way as I do.

I pretty much look at all the “script” posts now, and I am finding that about a third of them are nothing more than somebody saying, “Hey this looks cool and I’m gonna read this later.”

And for about half of those, they never really do it anyway.

I’m kind of feeling these posts clutter up the board (and the portal) without really giving the author (or the person reading the post) anything at all.

I don’t like receiving these kind of posts, myself – particularly when they never actually come back haha.  It makes you wonder what the heck was so horrible about your story.

Delete these, or let them go, or you could care less?

Opinions?

Yeah, even though it's only happened to me once to one of my scripts, it does make me wonder if they either couldn't be bothered to read it or they did and they hated it without even replying with a review.

I bet you are talking about my post on Mike Sheltons new feature. I am going to read it, I promise. I'm already reading it.

Delete them all, I cannot stand them. I have been looking at them and silently steaming about it.

I think Don should restrict posting to those boards or at least say it has to be a review or you cannot post. (Only the writer should be able to clutter his/her own thread.) Unless the writer asks a question or you have an opinion to help.

No smart remarks about format or any of that garbage, it doesn't help anyone.

I wouldn't have started this thread for you and you alone, Chris.  There are tons of these every time new scripts are posted -- and actual reviews get buried.

But yeah, if the shoe fits...

Don't tell the author you're going to read something -- just read it, you know?

Well, I sort of said something else in there to let him know something else that I was interested in. So it wasn't just for the sake of telling him I was going to read it.

I did it once just to let an author know I hadn't forgotten to review his work and to tell him to expect a review the next day. I should've used a PM instead.

Delete them.  I usually do when I see them along with "cool", "nice story" and "great".

I guess I'm very guilty about doing this too, even though I think I actually do read what I say will read.

Won't do it again though.

Don't you have a rule to stop that? Think before you post or no one liners...

If the writer does it lock the thread, when he/she contacts you tell them to talk to bert and find out why they have been punished.

I can say that I've done this a few times myself, but sometimes I've actually been able to get to the script right away, and rather than making a new post, I'll just modify the old one to include the review.  Usually works best if there are no replies to your original post.

More often than not though, I'll get requests through pm, or I'll just read something because it's a writer I usually read.

I get this crap all the time.  Sometimes people follow through, sometimes they don't.  It doesn't bug me either way.  I sometimes PM people telling them I'm reading their crap or sometimes I leave a message in their thread, but then after leaving my review I go back and delete that post.  You can see traces of that in the Jackelope and Metatron threads where Tyler and Breanne are responding to my posts which are no longer there.

Whatever though.  The majority seems to think it's stupid so I'll let it go.  I have a cold right now so I feel very bad.  How the F can you get a cold in June.  Total crap, man.

I don't want everyone to hate me for this, but what is the big deal? It can easilly be ignored, and it's not like the posts give the thread a virus... I am missing 100 posts, even posts that were reviews.

Why is that?

Because your avatar is a McFlurry.

Seriously, threads get deleted and the post count drops when the board is "updated", happens to everyone.  The reviews, I don't know.
