As of last Thursday, I received 2 contracts in the mail for 2 of my scripts.  One is for a student film (which will be fun to watch the completion of a film from start to finish) and the other is a big time option with a producer in New York.  My script should be making some rounds at WB and Universal.

And both of these scripts were found here at Simply Scripts.

I just want to give a big "THANK YOU SIMPLY SCRIPTS" for making my dreams come true!

Thanks so much guys.  I know that if I can do, then anybody on these boards can get their scripts out there.

Also, the major the script (the big one!) is based on some established characters.  That's right folks.  It is pretty much FAN FICTION.

Now all you nay sayers who think that fan fiction is a waste of time....well, you are wrong.  Hey, it may never get made but I can just take a look at my improved bank account and smile.

Happy writing!

Thanks so much!

I've received several PMs about people wanting links to the scripts so they could read.  The fan fiction script was on another website but my producer asked me to take it down and I did.

The small one "all or nothing" is in my sig.  Not bad for a script I did for one of the summer writing exercises during the summer and did in two days.  Remember, however, that it has gone through several rewrites so what you read is totally different than what you will see on the screen.

Thanks,
Jonathan

While I don't want to give out the exact amount.  I got *,*** for the initial option.  They would have control of my script for a year with the option to renew it for another year after that in order to get it off the ground.  If they wanted to renew the option then they must pay me another *,***.

If my script goes into production, no matter how much it ends up making, I would get ***,***.

Since I am a newcomer the numbers are a little low, as opposed to writers who have been in the business for years.  But, considering this is fan fiction I wrote for fun back in high school, I'll take payment if someone would rather have it.

Wow, Jonathan. That is some awesome news. Nice figures. It's a lot more than I'm making at the moment, lol.

Think I already congratulated you, but I think another one is in order.

I do remember Jonathan writing a superhero fan-fic some time ago, but I'll refrain fom dropping the name in case it might be a faux pas.

Anyway, congrats.  That many asterisks sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

Jonathan, I'm new here at "Scripts Are Us," but I wanted to issue another congratulations to you.

I know that it's a long road, all up hill, and in the snow.  It wouldn't be the same without the challenge though would it?

Savor the moments of success; and then get back to conquering that next mountain!

All the best.

Yeah, Mike, I think you have it figured out.

For all that want to know, it was actually a Green Lantern script.  One thing that drew the producer to this piece was the fact that Green Lantern is one of DC Comics biggest franchises, yet he hasn't had as much as a single cartoon or movie to himself.  He also liked the fact that I did away with a lot of super hero move quirks.  I wrote my script with no super villain and no damsel in distress.  Not something you see in a normal super hero script.

Everyone keep your fingers crossed.  There is talks of a Justice League movie, which would feature Green Lantern.  That might make my script impossible to get off the ground, since mine is an origin story.

That sounds like a script I read and reviewed a long time ago. I don’t know if it’s the same one. I spoke to one of the authors a long time ago but it had two authors.

One of the reasons I read it was because there’s never been any movie about the Green Lantern before. I’ve always been surprised by that.

Well the person who optioned it wouldn't have spent that much money on it if he/she doesn't have the right connections to get the rights to film an official GREEN LANTERN movie.  So I'd advise you to not fill these boards with spoilers.  Congrats, man.

Thanks so much guys and gals!

While Green Lantern is still in limbo, my other film "All or Nothing" (now named "Mr. Pennington") is well over half way completed.  The director put together this little teaser to show me how it's coming along.  I know it isn't much, but just seeing some of my work on screen makes me all giddy.

Hey Jonathan, congratulations. It looks good but I wish it had given a little bit more of a hint as to the story. It was very vague. But I’m excited for you.

Hey, is that dboose3 that left a comment the one and only Don Boose? Could it be?
