I think it would be a good idea to have a sticky thread that is the first port of call for first time posters and inexperienced writers.

Something that points out common flaws in scripts for instance:

1. Format

2. Show not tell. Many writers put information in their scripts that cannot be filmed.

ETC.

It could be developed over time to become a useful reference resource on things relating to screenwriting. We could list information we have found that is useful relating to the proper construction of Log-lines for example.

The reason I mention this is because alot of the scripts that I have looked at make fairly elementary errors and it becomes irritating to have to repeat yourself.

If we can point to a thread that has a list of things to check then the inexperienced/learning writer can work through it in their own time and correct things without recrimination.

It also allows everyone else to concentrate on the harder to fix problems (and more important issues IMO) like story and structure.

Well, we already have this:

http://www.simplyscripts.com/WR_resource.html

and this:

http://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-screenwrite/m-1121017393/

and even this:

http://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-screenwrite/m-1132968707/

for the novice screenwriter willing to study the craft.

And we frequently do point people to one or all of these destinations.

But you can only lead a horse to water, and you know the rest....

Hey, it's my tiny, little IMDb!

Thought there might be something.

That's good. I'll know where to point in future.
