Hello Simply Scripts, I just joined today, and I've got a question for you guys.

Does the Simply Scripts community host screenwriting challenges? Like there is a topic chosen, and you have to turn in a piece before the deadline? I love these things, and wish to know if there are any that exist here. Thanks.

Yeah we do weekly challenges every once in a while. We haven't had one for a fair while though so I think we're overdue for another one. They make for interesting reads. There are links to previous ones on the main page if you're interested in checking them out.

Welcome to the boards. Have fun.

Matt.

We'll be doing one very shortly.  Right now, several members of the boards are involved in the nycmidnightmadness competition, which is what our challenge is based on.

Looks like I joined at just the right time then.

I've been craving something of this sort. Makes the thought process a whole lot easier!

Yes, I found the thread and have placed my vote.

Looks like we'll be writing about thriller!

Stigmata, if you're looking for regular challenges, you might also check out moviepoet.com.  They have a free monthly contest (5 pages max) and there's always some sort of challenge -- this month you have to have a character with a phobia.  Previous challenges have included: two people one location, all characters under 12 years old, voice-over, nudity, forest location, etc.  It's a great site.

I'm happy to hear about the upcoming challenge here -- should be fun!
