First off I'm new here so I'll give a quick hi.

Ok so here's the deal. I'm an avid Star Trek fan. I've loved Star Trek as far back as I can remember. The first movie I can remember seeing in the theater is Star Trek VI. With that in mind, I've been as downhearted as most other fans have been with the downturn Star Trek has taken this decade. After Voyager it just seemed to die. I enjoyed Enterprise and even Nemesis but I can see where things went astray.

Instead of complaining like so many, I decided to take my hand at building an idea myself. Since the discussions of what the next show would be after Voyager I've been building up an epic plan to get Star Trek back on track. I got serious with the announcement of the new Star Trek movie by J.J. Abrams, whose direction I completely disagree with. (That is if it's actually going to way I think it is.)

I have outlines for ten movies (including movies based on Trek shows non-existent yet (outlines not complete)), if this proves worth pursuing I'll soon start on bibles for two new TV shows and I have just completed a full script for one of the movies. (My first screenplay, congratulations to me)

Now I'm not naive enough to believe I can just call up Paramount, say I got a cool idea for a new Trek movie, especially when they have one in post-production that they're passin' rocks for, and expect to get somewhere with it. But I genuinely think I have some worthwhile ideas that could support Star Trek for many years to come.

I guess where I'm going with this is now that I've finished a script I've been working on for nearly a year, now's the time to either get serious about it or toss it aside and work on something else. In all honesty I'd be willing to give the Abrams crew everything I've worked, toss out a hearty handshake and beg them to do something with it. (Yeah I'm one of those fans.)

So I'm curious to know everyone's thoughts. Is this something I should take serious and pursue or is it an elaborate pipe dream and I'm doomed to watch as Hollywood's reboot trend lobotomizes my beloved franchise now infinitely looped around mini-skirts, rubber ears and Shatners wig that is the original series?

Also, I'm curious to know if I'm able to copyright this script somehow, seeing as how the characters are property of Paramount. I read the copyright FAQ and Peter Pan is a completely different situation.

You can write this as fan-fic, but you can't sell it without permission from Paramount.

There are virtual series all over the net.  You should be able to find them.

Yeah I'm not looking to write a fan-fic though. I'm not even looking to sell it either, I just want someone to make it happen. As for copyright goes, I just wasn't sure if I was able to copyright the story or concept or something like that. Just so if I do show it to a bunch of people, even if the characters are owned, no one would be able to take the story and say they wrote it.

I'm pretty sure you can copyright the stories.  You just have to mention somewhere that it's all based on Star Trek, copyright Paramount, blah blah blah.

There are numerous scripts here, based on television shows and movies, if that's worth anything to you.
