I have no idea if this has been discussed previsously, so feel free to delete/move this thread if so.

I've noticed that there is an Anime board in Simplyscripts, but not a Fantasy board. I was thinking we could change this around, because Anime/Animation is not a genre, but a medium. Fantasy, on the other hand, is an actual genre and a popular one at that.

I'm thinking it would be more appropiate to remove the Anime or Animation board and replace it with a Fantasy board, and move the scripts in the Anime board to a place more fitting for them.

I'm saying this because Animation scripts could well be classed under conventional genres (Comedy, Sci-Fi, etc.).

Just something I was thinking about.

Why not keep the Anime board and create and Fantasy board as well? At least then we'll know if a script is intentionally written as Anime.

Yes, although there are cross overs, having both a fantasy board and an Anime board makes sense.

According to my daughter, who has a lot of experience (tons) with Japanese Anime, she agrees that Anime is a medium.

You can take any story out there, like Harry Potter or Hercules and make it into an Anime.

So thanks for the post because it helps to enlighten us.

I have always wondered about the Anime board, too, and suspect it might have been created to give "Banana Chan" a proper home in the days before Alan got a little strange.

Anyway, there are ancient threads debating whether "Anime" should be classified as a genre -- and since many scripts are written with that style in mind -- I suppose it does for our purposes.

As for the "Fantasy" thing, I kind of thought "Adventure" had that covered.

I only realized that there was no fantasy section when I uploaded my last feature script; it was a little surprising.

Banana Chan was the only 'active' thread in the anime section, thanks to Alan.  This year, there were only two anime scripts loaded, and neither were read.  Should the anime boards be removed?  It wouldn't serve any purpose to do so, except to give Don some extra work to do.

I tend to throw my fantasy scripts under adventure...well, before one of them turned into a series, but the other easily-classifiable-as-fantasy, I stuck under adventure. I also stuck it under no-way-in-hell-I-can-afford-to-make-this-one-myself.

Just read another post asking the question: Why have an anime classification and not fantasy?

Maybe it is time to have a fantasy section. I don't know. A lot could fall into its category. Supernatural fantasy. Sci-fi fantasy. Fantasy thriller. Kind of weird when you start crossing genres. You get so many combinations.

Certainly is a good idea, I think.
