I've just got the copyright sorted and have tried to upload my script but there's a problem.

There is a limit to the size of file you can upload on simply scripts and mine is well above it. I converted my script to PDF using Final Draft and it's coming out at 3.6mb.

My question is, is there any way to get the size down enough to be uploaded here? If not, what other sites are good for uploading and linking to it from here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brian

I'm curious as to why it came out at such a large file.  That's like 300 pages.

As to other sites you can put the script on and link to, freewebs is pretty good.  It takes a little getting used to, but I've been using it for my scripts lately.

That is weird because it came out at 104 pages, pretty normal if compared to many of the scripts on here.

Yeah, it should only be about 100-110 kb.

Did you do "file, save as" when you converted it?

Yeah, File, Save as, then selected PDF. It takes about a minute to save. My laptop has Adobe Reader 8, which was pre-installed with Vista when I bought it two months ago.

Brian, email me the file at dogglebe@yahoo.com in fdr format.  I'll save it as a pdf and send it back to you.

And visit the FD website for patches.  I think I had your problems once.

Fixed! Well not really. I tried it on my desktop computer which runs windows xp and it worked perfectly. At least I'm no longer tearing my hair out.

Still not working on my laptop but I've done a bit of research and it looks like I need to upgrade to version 7.1.3 to fix this so I will look into that.

Thanks for the help guys. Thanks for the kind offer and advise about the patches, Phil.

Brian,

Have you checked how many dpi's the pdf writer writes with. 600 dpi should be enough to create a nice looking file, however, if it's using 14,000 dpi then the file will become huge.

Comparing the two PDF files, the bigger one does have thicker writing so the DPI must be too high when converting. Thanks for all the help!

So when will it be uploaded?

Isle 10- A series I'm currently writing with my friend Adam and it will go into production soon. Think The Office meets 10 Items or Less.

Sounds good, can't wait to read it. Could be a big hit here on SS
