Something I've wanted to ask for ages now but never got round to it.  On the discussion board we have a column for author but always says 'simplyscripts'?  Why is this, I would have thought having the author of the script would be more helpful here.  It would make it easier to find scripts by writers.

Check out my scripts...if you want to, no pressure.

The author is the person who starts the thread.  For the actual author to show up, people would have to post their own stuff, which could be a bit problematic.

The author is the person who starts the thread.
In this case, most of the time, it's Don.

This is a good question Alffy, I did understand why it was there but I think you made a great suggestion in having the author's name put there instead so, as you say, people will know who wrote what at a quick glance.

On the other hand I acknowledge that this would also result in a lot of extra work for our glorious leader.

The forum was programmed that way. If you post a thread, logically, you are the author of that thread.
If your suggestion were heeded, the application developer/web programmer would have to create an option for the thread starter to type the writer's name in a text box and reprogramme the site to use that name as author.

In the end, we already know who the script's author is because the WebMaster/ thread's author mentions the script writer's name, along with the name being on the actual script...

But aren't some of the scripts from people outside of SS? Like the ones without user names? Does Don find them himself and post them? Have been wondering this too.

Seems to me, those are produced scripts.

Just use this link:

http://www.simplyscripts.com/cgi-bin/show_link.pl?title=&writer=Michael+Cornetto&category=Unproduced&slot4=&type=script

But change the writer to the writer whose scripts you want to find. Don't forget to use + instead of space.

Re what Stevie said: I notice on older posts there seemed to be "Guest" users - I assume this was phased out??  Oh, and of course there's the ubiquitous Adsense, who up until quite a while ago, duh, I imagined (he/she was) was completely obsessed with this site - ha ha.
Thanks for the search link Michael.

Guest users are people who once had an account on the forum, but have since canceled it.

For those who submit scripts, but don't belong to the board, it could be a matter of them finding the main site and not knowing about the discussion board, or they've just chosen to not join it.

Okay, put this in: Steven+Dilworth, and got a 404 Error.  That is how my name is listed on my scripts.  Hmm.

Steven,

I think none of your scripts were recorded in the database -  you should send a message to Don about it.

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.  *sigh*  I'll write to Don.

What about Michel?
