In an attempt to become a more active part of the Simply Script community again, I'm looking for scripts to review.  No exchange needed or anything, just something to pass the time.

The last time I did this, I got a little bombarded with scripts, so if we can try to keep it to 5 at a time, that would be great.  I'll make sure to post when I'm done with those 5, but if I get more than that, I feel bad if it takes me too long to get to people.

So features or shorts, let me know! I'm excited to read what's out there now.

Can I get an I.O.U.?  I will have a revised version of my feature "Grand Avenue" (comedy) up within the next week or two.

I'm gonna nip in there and say the 6 of us who submitted entries into the 7WC would all appreciate your attention and expertise.

Flattery will get you everywhere.

I'll throw yours at the top of the list, but I'm basically going to make this on a first come, first serve basis from those who actually post on here.  That way, maybe I can get some shorts thrown in there to cleanse my palette after reading features (not to say they're bad or anything, but you know what I mean).  But if I get 5 features in a row, so be it.

In short, I'll read "One Last Christmas".

Hi Dressel,

I'd love to hear your thoughts on my short 'Heavenly Intentions' if you haven't already read it.

Hi,

I would love to hear what you have to say about my short "The Forgotten Christmas Tape" if you have the time. It's only 9 pages.

Do you have anything new coming up soon?

I've already got some helpful opinions on it, but if you'd like to read one of mine, you could try "24/7". It's very long for a short, but it's too short to be a feature. Lol.

If you're interested, page 3 in the Shorts area.

No sweat. It's #4.

As for myself, I haven't done much writing as of late, aside from a touch-up on my latest draft of "Casting Kristin".  I'm doing a pretty drastic overhaul of "Based on a True Story" in the coming months, but nothing I'm posted to the boards.

It'll be #5, thus capping off this series of reads.  I'm glad to see I got a good mixture of features and shorts, as I have to fit this in between spurts of work I'm doing.  Looking forward to all this though!

I'll wait for the re-write.  Otherwise it could just become this big back-and-forth of me saying "Well, I'd change this." and you saying "I already changed that."

So, wow, that went quick!  It definitely helped to have a healthy mix of shorts and features.

I'm ready to start taking scripts for Round 2, but I should let you all know that this one might be a tad bit longer.  I have a script read obligations OUTSIDE the boards, and unfortunately, it's a feature; so it'll probably take longer.

But once that gets done, I'll be ready to read more.  Stevie already talked to me about reading his 7WC, so I've got 4 more slots left!

Remember, you don't need to worry about a return read.

Hey Matt,

If you're up for it then you're more than welcome to take a look at "The Bay" in my sig (it's a feature).

Matt, you can check out my latest feature if you want?  It's called 'Pub Lunch' in the horror section.  Or any of my shorts, I'm easy.

Cool. I don't think I've ever read Douchebag. Will check it out unless you've got something else you want a read.

"Pub Lunch" sounds fine.  I'm a fast reader, so while it's naturally easier to read a short than a feature, it shouldn't set me back all that much.

I'm pretty familiar with the problems in relation to "Douchebag".  And if you look at the comments, it's really just a lot of people repeating what the previous person said.  Don't worry about checking it out.  It's the only thing up on the site at this time though.

If you want, since it may be a while still, we can "cancel the IOU" on my feature and you can take a look at my short "New Year's Eve"?

It was in development in the UK, but now it's in development in Germany.  Can't seem to sell anything here, but man, does Europe love me.

I sincerely apologize to anyone who's awaiting a read from me for this next round.  I suddenly got hit with a tremendous workload and haven't been able to find the time.  If all goes according to plan, I should be able to start reading again next Monday.

So, it's about a month later, and I've just finished reading my final script of Round #2.

If anyone wants a read for their script, let me know.  I'll take another 5 titles, and hopefully get to them in the near future.

Hey Matt,

Since you read my feature I think it's only fair to give others a shot. However if you have trouble filling your five slots (I don't see why you would though) and you can squeeze in my short "New Year's Eve", that would be great.

Again, I'll take a back seat and see if others need a read first.

Ideally, I'd really like to give people a read who haven't had one yet.  But if there's not a lot of takers, I'd be happy to throw yours on the pile.

If you can be bothered, you could look at my short Punch and Judy.

You'll probably have to search for it, it's a bit old.

Specifically, I want to cut it down to about 12 pages maximum for Production. Any thoughts on those lines would be welcome, amongst the usual.

Cheers,

Rick

I think what you're doing is very nice. I would take you up on it, but I know you don't like horror so I imagine you hate slashers. Just letting you know why I haven't asked for a read.

I think I kinda missed the boat on seeing this thread by a bit, but my revised version of Hard Case is up and in desperate need of viscious critiquing.  Not sure your opinion of Action/Thriller.  Its on the short side of feature, 60 pages.

Since your not looking for me to return the favor I'll just put it out that I'll pay it forward, you check it out, I'll check out any script someone wants a read on.

Mine:
HARD CASE
(65 Pages) Stealing the case is just the beginning...

APU
(80 pages) A city where superheroes are murderers and villains walk through walls...

Well, you've already checked out something of mine, but if you want to, "12 Seconds" is in the short section. Probably on page two or three. Something like that.

In keeping with giving everyone a read, I'm still going to try to read stuff from people who haven't had reads yet.

Eventually I'm sure I'll run out of people though and that rule will have to be lifted.  Might be this round.
