To be fair, I don't know what Rick meant either...
I got the original email about Circalit, but didn't join. Having followed the progress of your experiences there, I have to say that at the moment there doesn't seem to be a particularly compelling case to join up.
Same with Triggerstreet, which I know Anthony's been trying - guess I'll just say here in SS City, where the grass is green and the girls are pretty!
Triggerstreet is just bizarre, man. My script is still in with 16 people for review, and I've not gotten a review in over 2 weeks.
Last thing I'll say about Circalit - while it's way too facebooky for me, it appears that the SSers who are on there got in on the ground floor of this thing, and it could pay dividends. I'm sitting at #4 and all the people who have so graciously read my feature on SS have agreed to weigh in over there for me.
So what have I accomplished? I've gotten SS exposure times two. Will I win anything? probably not. Will someone read my work on Circalit and be interested in me writing something on spec, as was the case here on SS? Maybe...
Okay, so there was a major shakeup over at Circalit as far as how they rate scripts...
I plummeted all the way from 4 to 18, Shelton slipped from 2 to 8 and Michel went from 3 to 7...
In better news, Alffy's short "The Chocolatier" jumped all the way to #2!
It's really too confusing how they rate these things over there now. I guess I'll have to become more active there so that I get more fans who have higher ratings...
Okay, so now the scripts rate based on how active your fans are - it actually hurts a script's rating to have too many inactive fans...
So I did a little experiment and became more active - and now Shelton's #1!
And I'm screenrider's only fan and he's #15, so I have good evidence that my recent "actiivty" has gone a long way... (0:
Guess all I can say is that any SSers who also have work posted at circalit should try to join more groups and post a bit more over there - then your "fandom" will be worth more...
Update as of now - the SSers are dominating the top 10!
Alffy - #1! Pete - #2 Mr. Blonde - #5 Shelton - #6 AJR - #9 Craig - #10
And it actually weighs down your script now if someone with a low "read" rating becomes a fan. To check your read rating, click on your profile and see how many stars are there...
Any chance I can trade a look at your 3 shorts for a look at Grand Avenue? You wouldn't have to read the whole thing - just enough for you to decide if you're a "fan"...
Of course, yeah, not sure, but i think you have read at least one of my three shorts I have on there, but anyways i will gladly read your entire peice, both comments and feedback will be given.
Terribly sorry but the review and feedback will have to wait till tomorrow due to site maintanence on circalit. Not sure when it will be up and running, but I'm too short on time to wait.
I'll add my comments to Grand Avenue on simplyscripts too.
