Well I'm still in the internet limbo...damn SKY how long does it take to connect my phoneline! Anyway just wanted to say a big congtrats AJR for winning on Circalit. I enjoyed Grand Avenue hugely when I rwad it here.
Check out my scripts...if you want to, no pressure.
I've been there A. No internet land I mean. Bit dull and annoying at first. Take advantage. Unplug from the Matrix. The world still spins. And I wouldn't be holding my breath for that connection. Set your expectations low. I've been there with them. Hmmm.
I heard The Times and Murdoch are gonna start charging for news content online.
Quoted from Rupie Murdoch
Quality journalism is not cheap. The digital revolution has opened many new and inexpensive distribution channels but it has not made content free. We intend to charge for all our news websites.
Er yeah. Quality journalism? The Sun? The Times? Er. What? Good luck on that one Perty. You're gonna need it.
And for anyone that wants to read it, Tom Lazarus already weighed in with his review (thought I would get a bit more of a honeymoon period to enjoy the blush, but you have to admire promptness, no?)
Hey, from a guy as accomplished as he, I'll take that review!
I think there are one or two good sound bytes in there. Would it be wrong to quote him in an e-mail without his express permission? After all he did say what I'm saying he said, no?
I hope one of my shorts will win sometime, doubt i will have anything new uploaded for a good while though, work is sucking too much out of me these days.

Congrats on winning, my good man. I feel really out of it lately, so I had to look into this whole "Circalit" thing. Sounds really cool. Good job.

Thanks Matt - it was quite a rush to see GA so prominently displayed - still is, in fact. You should get "Douchebag" up there asap...
As for the critiques, well, they basically said the same thing - great characters and dialogue, funny and real, and lacking a bit in narrative structure. Lazarus though seemed to indicate that GA is close to being "very, very good", which I guess means that it's just "very good" at this point?
Not that I wouldn't want to re-write this at some point; I'm just wondering whether a producer would want to step in and get on board based on the strength of the characters, dialogue and the emotion of the story - the script does seem to provoke strong emotions in people - and then make suggestions as to what could be cut, or tweaked, or re-positioned, etc.
There's a British producer actively - and I mean ACTIVELY - pursuing British writers over there now. If I were British and I had work posted I'd get on quickly and actively start marketing it...
There is a guy who's looking for scripts dealing with different things, including Scotland and sectarianism. I'm actually kicking myself as I was going to write dealing with that matter set in Scotland as you need to deal with sectarianism in Glasgow every day, even if you don't care about football. I didn't write it because I didn't think anybody outside the UK would understand it. That would have been perfect.
I've still not wrote a script set in the UK. Gutted, but I've only got myself to blame, I suppose.
Alffy, when you're back online, throw Pub Lunch his way.
