Okay, so I scanned the first couple of pages of the script in first place (who's up to 33 friends, btw), and it's not going to get good coverage, IMO...
Littered with camera shots, "we see"s and weird things in CAPS. I can see how novices would be attracted to the script because it's written in a very crash-bang style, and it starts off with (a) a dead body and (b) a strip club.
*yawn* cliche...
So yeah, this one will get cleared out with bad coverage, hopefully paving the way for Shelton, or Phil, or dare I say... lil' old me?
The 'Fan' system is just pointless and bizarre. Apparently the number of 'fans' that a reader has affects how many 'points' you get when they 'fan' your piece. (or something).
It's terribly flawed, and is almost as bad as the anonymous reviews they had before.
To quote the comment from the No 1 rated script (currently with 33 'fans' and precious little reviews)...
Quoted from Dave Clark (Circalit)
I took advantage of all the social networking tools you see on the left had side to share my screenplay with colleagues who then shared my link with other colleagues. I put in the work to get My screenplay specifically Read and Liked. I would advise others do the same for I dont expect people coming here and signing up specifically to read My screenplay to take the time out their busy lives to read screenplays of other people without any type of introduction or knowing. Make any sense? I mean the reality is that you have to seek out and make yourself heard and force people to read your work or else who will?
If this is the first script that gets into the hands of the much mooted 'industry professionals', it will probably be the first nail in the coffin of Circalit.
It looks like the points system I mentioned yesterday is something that's currently in development, if that means anything to anyone. To me, I think it will be a big step forward.

Not necessarily. It depends on how you want it to work. It lessens its importance from an industry point of view perhaps, but the social networking aspects do have potential from other points of view.
It comes from a holiday in Greece one time. We were at a 24 hour bar where we knew the manager, a very cool, charismatic guy who would call everyone Cheetahs. Eg "Ah, you a happy Cheetah", or "She's a pretty Cheetah".
Anyway, a drugged up buffoon came up and asked him where the best place to jump off the roof was (The bar is directly next to the sea; However there is a kind of patio and then a large number of rocks in between the roof and the water).
The manager looks at him like he's mad and explains that it's too far to make it.
20 minutes later we hear the bump, bump, bump of this fool's feet on the roof. He flies through the air headfirst like Superman, arms straight out. Got an amazing distance....before landing on a huge rock jutting out of the sea. He hit it with such force that he bounced into the air off the rock.
The manager said "Ah, he a Bouncy Cheetah".
It always stuck with me because despite the severity of the incident it made me laugh for hours. The guy eventually crawled out with what looked like some severely broken ribs and a nasty gash in his side, but he just sat in a chair and carried on drinking...so he couldn't have been too bad.
One thing I noticed, when I uploaded my screenplay, I made a mistake by only allowing 40% to view. Is there any way I can change this to 100%?
Go to your screenplay page and click 'edit screenplay.' Scroll toward the bottom and you'll see the privacy options. Change privacy options to allow 100%.
Whether or not the winner is decided by the number of fans or by the average score that a script receives, the vast majority of the scoring is done by friends.
