Hey everyone, I need to ask a favor of you.

I recently lost my hard drive and literally everything on it, including all my scripts.

Most importantly, I lost my Fade to White script.  I know it's posted in here, but it was a very old draft.  I'm wondering if I E-mailed a more recent draft to anyone for a read in the last 6 months or so.

If anyone has a fairly recent draft in PDF format, could you please E-mail it over to me?

It sure would help. I'll have to retype everything from scratch, most likely, but it would be a pretty good place to start.

Thanks in advance!  I really appreciate it.

Way better than anything else I'm aware of so far.

Thanks, Jonny!  Hold out on it for now.  Let's see if anyone else has a newer version.

I'l let you know ASAP.

Thanks so much, man.  These are frickin' difficult times!

I think Final Draft imports from PDF.  I don't have it on this PC but I'm pretty sure it has that functionality.

I have 8.19.08 and 4.03.09.

And getting it from a a PDF... Final Draft won't import from a PDF.You can, however, cut and paste it into Final Draft from the PDF and FD does a solid job of formatting it for you.

Thanks guys!  I use Movie Magic Screenwriter (which I also lost, BTW).  If nothing else, I can simply retype it in from the latest version found out there.  I'll still need to reinstall my MM, and it may be a problem, as you can't just transfer it from computer to computer.

George, sounds like you've got the latest draft at this point.  Please hold on to it until I see if there's anything later.

Thanks so much everyone.  You guys are all awesome!

No prob Jeff. And you shouldn't have to retype it. If you can't cut and paste it into MovieMagic, you can at least cut and paste into Wordpad or something, and then save as an rtf which MovieMagic should be able to import. And if you can't, I definitely can. In fact, I'll probably do that if you want me to send it to you and just send an rtf file of it along with the pdf.

Wow!  Sounds great, George.  I'm not familiar with an rtf or wordpad, but if you think it will work and/or help, that's awesome.

I'm a strange computer guy.  When everything's set up for me and things are functioning properly, I'm amazing!  But when they don't operate as planned, or when I have to do anything out of the ordinary, I'm completely clueless and helpless.  Pitiful, I know.

My buddy built me a brand new computer and all I had to pay for was a couple of fans and a new power source.  Everything else, he built or whatever for me.

Thank God for good friends!  Thank God for you guys as well!  I mean that.  This site means alot to me, as do its members, and my friends.  I'd be lost without it all.

Thanks again!

Well, rtf is a very portable format, and I know rtf is about the only word processor format that Final Draft imports. I know MovieMagic is similar, though I'm not familiar with it, so I would figure that it would also import rtf format. The two are competing high-dollar software products that do the same thing, so it's very likely they would provide this similar functionality.

You confirm this by opening MovieMagic and then seeing if there's an import option or just going to "open" and looking at the available file types. In all likelihood, rtf will be one of the available file types to either import or open.

Final Draft just interprets the text as it comes in and makes some educated guesses as to what it is based on how it is typed.

I would just cut and paste your original doc into a file and you'd import it straight over so it would maintain all its original line breaks and probably auto-format nearly exactly how it was before.

And just to clarify, did you want me to send that to you?
