Today, I received an e-mail from a fellow named Dale from a production company called Cineville asking about one of my scripts posted on the site.

The link he gave me sends me to a Facebook page for a Belgian production company. There is a Cineville listed on IMDB and the information there matches up with the Facebook page.

That being said, has anyone else been contacted by these folks? Is this a legitimate inquiry? What, if anything, would you suggest I do especially since I'm planning a modest rewrite of the script in question?

There are a number of Cinevilles listed on the IMDB pro site - one US company and several in Europe...

The US one has an extensive list of credits. I would try to match the name of the person that contacted you to the specific company branch on IMDB, but my guess is that it's legitimate.

Hello, ajrscreenworks, and thanks for your response.

I should mention the name and e-mail address used to contact me are included on the Cineville Facebook page. (For those who didn't notice, the first post includes links to both the Facebook and IMDB pages in question.)

I was more interested in knowing if anyone else on the board has had any dealings with this company and what I should do especially since I feel the script they seem interested in needs a rewrite.

I don't see why it would hurt to let them produce it. Go for it....and congrats for getting interest in your script.

I think it sounds OK. I'd be concerned if they were asking for money but if they just want to talk about the script, send them an e-mail back and talk.

A company got my e-mail from Triggerstreet and wanted to talk about the possibility of making my script when I was in the middle of a new draft, I just sent them a mail back saying I'm working on a new draft and it would be ready in a few days and they were okay with it. Cineville will probably be the same.

Abel, was it your horror script by any chance? If it was, I wish you the best of luck with it. It's been a while since I read it but I enjoyed it a lot.

Hello to both of you, me and Brian, and thanks for replying. I'll e-mail the company back asking for more information and letting them know I'm about to start a new draft.

To answer your question, Brian, they seem interested in my Steeplechase script posted in the Thriller section.
