hey there folks, this question has probably been asked before but for some wierd reason, when i open the search function, it just won't load for me...

with that being said, i have an idea for a TV series that i've been workin on for quite some time now. I was wondering what do i have to do to be able to pitch my show and ideas to actually make it happen. Get an agent? Write a pilot scritp? Both?

This idea i had was for a web novella i was working on, so i was also thinking that when im done with some drafts i could host it up online, but would that interfer in some way with my pitching or that would be another way of possible pitching my idea?

Should i get in contact with TV stations, producers, managers? This idea i had would not be doable in my home country, not in a million years (if i want to make it right that is),  so 'll most likly have to reach out for the sorts of HBO (hehe) or somethin.

Maybe oprah's new network, OWN will take it...

thanks.

I've never written a TV show, but I think you'd definitely need to have a pilot script to show around.  Also, a very detailed outline of characters and stories that highlight the overall concept of the show.   I seriously doubt you'd be able to sell an idea for a TV show, especially if you're a beginner who lives in another country.  What country are you from, btw?  But, I'm sure if you researched the net, you'd find loads of info on this subject.

i'm from portugal, not much, or at all happening in here when it comes to making fiction, decent anyway.

For the web novella, i've made the character descriptions and backstories. Also need to work on the "lore" since the action takes place in a sci fi setting. Im going to keep writting stuff down, until i have good enough material to write the pilot script. Also write down each main characters plot and how they connect.

To bad to hear my chances are not much though, i really think that if i could pitch my idea to a few executives i could make somethin happen. Im good when it comes to "selling" stuff .

It'd be extremely tough to sell anything from Portugal without an agent, but if the idea's good enough you never know.  Check out these pages:
