Not sure if anyone is aware of this new Screenplay Competition I stumbled up on. I was thinking about entering this as well as the Scriptapalooza competition towards the end. I would love for some of you seasoned Screenwriters to check it out and tell me what you think. And no, I do not work for em'.
This competition was briefly discussed about a month ago; I saw red flags when I looked at it.
First of all, it's a new competition. That, in and of itself, isn't a bad thing.
Second, there are no names attached to this. They claim to have the best readers and judges, but that is a common boast.
Third, they offer huge cash prizes but do not mention passing your script to those in Hollywood (agents, directors, etc). Cash is nice but, at this stage, getting your script passed around is more important.
Fourth--and this is the big one--there is no deadline for this competition. They read/judge the scripts after they receive a thousand of them. What if they don't get that number in a year? Or two years? Or ever? They have your money and they are not legally responsible to send it back as long as intend to run their competition.
