Ok. I could not fit my question into the subject so I will just write it here.

What is the rule on adapting various media to movies or tv shows? So, say I want to adapt a comicbook I read, or game I played into a spec script for a tv show's pilot. Would there be any copyright infringements if I write this pilot and post it on a website? Can the people who own the rights just steal it because it was their story?

I have seen several scripts on here for a lot of different things. I have definitely seen an assassin's creed adaption and a few batman sequels but are you aloud to do that?

And if so, what would happen if you copyright the script you wrote yourself based on that show? Is it yours or can they still take it?

In my case I would like to make a pilot for an anime to a real tv show. The anime is in Japanese and if I do make it, it will be an English remake.

So the main question! What is the current stance on this?

Thanks in advance for answering guys!

If you try making money off it, then you could be facing some trouble.  If it's just fanfic, then don't worry about it.

If it's your story, they really can't take it.

Thanks for answering Phil. Definitely not trying to make money of it   But it's not my story because I adapted a Japanese anime to a pilot of a live action TV show. So, hopefully all goes well.
