We've all heard of her, all dreamed of her, all created her character, but how in god's name do we avoid creating this character?! I've created her in my newest screenplay, and proabably again in another one.

Anybody have any tips?

If you dont know what the MPDG is, google her and learn quickly!

Give her a goal and make her actively pursue that goal, with a plan, with an attitude. She was born cute and fragile in a hard, man's world, and she hates it! She will not take no for an answer in life, just because on principle she is not going to let life boll her over.

I agree with Kevin's idea, a character without a goal is static, boring and one dimensional. They are also a yawn to read and even worse to watch. Along with giving her a goal, give her a story arc that makes her CHANGE. This character of yours has to go on a journey that addresses an inner need or confort something eternal that we, the reader/audience, can relate to and makes us root or her.
