i've read plenty of great screenwriting sites on the net that have helped (Scriptshadow, John August's blog just to name a couple) but I was wondering if anyone has a link to a site that breaks down good description with examples?
I think I write better dialogue than descroption and would really like to "master" that art. I have way too many walking and looking type lines of description which I feel can get the ax very easily and I'd like to see a nice write up about it.
I read professional scripts and take notes, but I'm admittedly looking for one or two articles just as context so I don't have to search through all the scripts I have.
thanks.
I'd list my "work" here, but I don't know how to hyperlink.
"Career" Highlights -2, count em, 2 credits on my IMDB page. -One time a fairly prominent producer e-mailed me back. -I have made more than $1000 with my writing! -I've won 2 mugs... and a thong. (polaroids of me in thong available for $10 through PM)
I have the same problem sometimes. 'Look' is a killer!
I *think* the best way to tackle it is to just read lists of verbs and synonyms. The thesaurus is a great resource, too, and there are free ones online
the thesaurus is my best friend. final draft as one built in, but i tend to just use thesaurus.com
