What's up, writers? I'd like to offer a deal to all. i will read your first pages -- up to twenty pages -- and offer you feedback on it for totally FREE. this may seem as if i'm looking to purloin your material but i am not. i have my own. however, i just sent out for coverage and what i got back was good and this seemed like something that i could do, so i decided to try and help those who have helped me most since i began writing for film back in 2005. the cost of good coverage can be steep so why not get advice from someone who has truly dedicated his life to screenwriting? when i say that i have dedicated myself i mean that i no longer have a job; i have income that covers my bills, and that i have eschewed every frivolity known to me in order that my attention, energy and thoughts and time will be consumed by what i am compelled to do with my life for the duration. i've had some people insinuate that maybe i'm in this to make a big score financially. who isn't really? but if that were my main motivation then i would have sold at least three scripts by now to source who contacted after reading my work on simply. i still own those scripts. i write. i don't do well writing for other people b/c you never know exactly what people want when they tell you to write to a genre or sub-genre. i need answers before i begin, while i'm doing and after it's completed. i don't work by luck, i deliberate and act.
i have university degrees, i was the top student in every class, school or event. i have succeeded at everything that i've done. i now want to help other people to move closer to their dreams as well. i believe in teamwork. i believe in people. i believe in all of us that we have what it takes to make a difference, despite being rejected by agents or producers who themselves are only interested in dealing with you if they think that you will turn them a buck or three. trust me, i have dealt with those types and they're quite arrogant to put it mildly. so my offer to read your work and comment honestly and without that condescending tone that comes along with other feedback stands pat. and, no, you don't have to read anything for me unless you choose to. i just want to help people. contact me here: trabajador455@yahoo.com and we'll get started right away. or just send me a message through simply if that's more comfortable but i am always available for you no matter what.
There's a ton a scripts on this site and there is no shortage of writers that are eagerly awaiting some feedback or a read. I don't think you have to wait for scripts to come to you to dig in, but if that's how you roll, I can't argue either. I do have to say the short amount of time I have been here, I respect all of the writers and their outstanding work, we all work very hard around these parts. Me personally, I wouldn't feel right sending my work out to someone, I like keeping it on the site with these good folks.
This is a thread I can relate to. Reading scripts and trying to help the writers improve them, for me is more of a pleasure than trying to write scripts myself. If I could get paid for it I'd do it in a flash, even for pocket money (if anyone out there does want a reader ... seriously, pm me. I'd add a lol but I am actually serious).
But as oJohnnyoNutso says, there's plenty of free practise available on the site as it is - so jump in. Everyone you give feedback to will appreciate it.
My figuring is hopefully I can get ok at reading/responding, develop an understanding and trust with some of the writers who think I'm ok, and then let's face it - there's going to be plenty of members posting scripts on here that'll get contracts... and maybe one or two will think hey that Maz guy gave some ok feedback in the end, I get where he's coming from, and now I've just been commissioned to script Will Smith's next $200 000 000 block-buster I reckon he might be useful for reading my drafts.
(and to those of you who think I kid... think again )
Which makes you my competition LMAO. Nah, good luck, I like your thinking. If you get too many offers and need an asssistant - pm me.
I don't really see how anyone gave you the finger. There's tons of scripts here. Read and comment on the ones that interest you. You can read a page and comment on that, if you like - there's no rule against that - though it would be hoped that you continue reading the ones you actually like. Enjoy the site.
Write stuff, you have to put in a little time to get to know people. Your offer might be very generous, but no one knows you yet, or what your reviews would be like. Like Cornetto said, just read some scripts, leave some remarks, let people get to know you. You give someone a 10 page read and leave sincere remarks about what you liked or didn't like, writers appreciate it. And welcome aboard, BTW.
Welcome to SS Write Stuff. I mean it. You may however have misunderstood how this place works. Usually people that take part of the forums want their own scripts read, so they read other writer's scripts and comment on those in order to hopefully get people to read theirs.
It is generously of you to offer to read, but that's what most of us here do. I might have read a thousand scripts here by now. Didn't say I commented on all, but...

This might also come across as a bit arrogant, to be honest. I know there are at least one person on these boards with only 9 years spent in school total, but still has three features produced this year alone and I think a few shorts too, but can't remember right now.
Again, welcome to SS where we do all try to help each other.
hey guys, i just read some scripts. thnx for the advice, but i do know how things work. i just thought i'd offer more personalized and focused help to whomever desired it. didn't at all mean to cause a firestorm of responses. just wanted to be contacted by those, if there were to be any of them, who would like some help. thnx guys. see you around.
