Here's one for you all.

I have a character who experiences a voice in her head that, clearly, others in the room don't experience. She's not alone.

So far I have written this like;

FEMALE VOICE(V.O)
(in Hannah's head)
Sit...down

Etc etc

Thereafter, I haven't repeated the "In the head" parenthetical, I assume it is taken for granted.

This seems to work but just wondered what other options people may have used??

Cheers

I've seen it done:

We hear a female narrator speak.
                     NARRATOR(V.O.)

This is how it's done in "Stranger Than Fiction" the first time the voice starts talking to Harold Crick. I have the script if you'd like to see it. Since it's his own voice, I would understand it the way you've written it, but maybe some of the more experienced on here can shed light...Interesting.

See if you can find Ted Tally's complete draft of "Red Dragon".

Francis Dolarhyrde (Ralph Fiennes) experiences an identical phenomena in that film. It almost made it to the final cut. In fact, Frank Langella ("Superman Returns") recorded a voice-over for the dragon before it was cut.

Maybe that could provide some insights?

I can't live the buttoned-down life like you. I want it all. The dizzying highs, the terrifying lows, the creamy middles. Sure, I may offend some of the blue bloods with my cocky stride and musky odors. Oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called "city fathers," who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards and talk about what's to be done with this Homer Simpson?

VO should suffice with a NOTE: VO IS INSIDE JOE BLOW'S HEAD, should suffice.
