I never played D & D...but I have played most of the video equivalents, most recently, the awesome Skyrim!

My name is usually The Kid.

Quoted from ReneC
My very first D&D character was a dwarf called Ener.

Quoted from bert
My D&D character was a magic-user.

Mine was a paladin whom, after I became a DM, turned into an anti-Paladin who ruled a realm in Ravenloft.  I had the rest of the party 'rescue' him and bring him home.  He was a psychological wreck, but that's a story for another day.

Wasn't it always more fun when the character shared traits with the actual player?

Hey, it's my tiny, little IMDb!

I probably sound like a nerd for asking this, but what's D&D?

And sorry I'm a little late to the conversation, but I was having sex.

Never....NEVER apoligize for putting the spurs to 'em brother.

D & D was a game popular back in the 80's before video games ruled.

Some played it....some lived it...

I did neither.

I was busy putting the spurs...

D&D is the original tabletop role-playing game, the one that made it cool to be a geek. Until it was no longer cool to be a geek and playing it got your knickers yanked up over your head in gym class. Then Wizards of the Coast bought TSR and revitilized the franchise, making it cool to be a geek again. Until it was no longer cool to be a geek and it got your wife forbidding you to teach your children to play. Then The Big Bang Theory made it cool to be a geek again, and, well, it's back bitches!

But don't play version 4.0, it's just a tabletop video game. The ultimate experiece is version 3.5, stick with that and find a good DM and you'll die happy.

Haven't play D&D since 1984, but I prefered Traveller.

My user name was my Lotus Notes password back in 2000 when I joined my first online forum ever for the game making system called Genesis3D.  I was using my son Steve's name, and it was the 8th iteration.

...in no particular order

Yeah, but atleast we were playing D&D with other people!  We weren't alone!

Mazes and Monsters is loosely based on the true story Dallas Egbert, a college student who committed suicide after someone placed a curse on his D&D character.  His mother did national speaking tours for years on the dangers of the game.  She (and the movie) forgot to mention that Dallas was a full time college student at sixteen, he experimented with drugs, he had little friends and he was confused over his sexuality.
